I got a new plasma!
Panasonic Viera P50S14 - 50", 1080p, the works. It's beautiful. The colors, the black are mind-blowing.
$980 plus tax. Best V-day gift ever. http://tomash.repost.org/uploaded6/IMG_3828.jpg http://tomash.repost.org/uploaded6/IMG_3831.jpg http://tomash.repost.org/uploaded6/IMG_3833.jpg Planet Earth. :eek3: http://tomash.repost.org/uploaded6/vierat1.jpg http://tomash.repost.org/uploaded6/vierat10.jpg http://tomash.repost.org/uploaded6/vierat11.jpg http://tomash.repost.org/uploaded6/vierat12.jpg http://tomash.repost.org/uploaded6/vierat2.jpg http://tomash.repost.org/uploaded6/vierat3.jpg http://tomash.repost.org/uploaded6/vierat4.jpg http://tomash.repost.org/uploaded6/vierat5.jpg http://tomash.repost.org/uploaded6/vierat6.jpg http://tomash.repost.org/uploaded6/vierat7.jpg http://tomash.repost.org/uploaded6/vierat8.jpg http://tomash.repost.org/uploaded6/vierat9.jpg |
I can vouch for the Viera plasmas being incredible (thanks Mutelight). The colour definition is just amazing. Good purchase. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/cool1.gif

Good choice

Great choicehttp://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/cool1.gif, plasmas are still on the top when it comes to picture quality and black levels (not trying to to start flame LCD vs plasma war here) but IMO from comparing and watching top of line LED LCDs and according to most reviews online, plasma picture quality, color production/contrast and the price/quality you get from them compared to top of the line LCDs is still superior.
I wanted to upgrade myslef from my 2 years old 42" Samsung 720P plasma to one of the newer Panasonic models, but I will probably wait for the 2010 modelshttp://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...s/biggrin1.gif |
Nice! Love my Viera, can't get enough of it.

Bought some LED bias lighting for it today.

The LCD on my computer can display pictures that look better than that...

Never understood why some post pic's of their LCD TV screen as if it's suppose to show quality. I mean, it's never going to look better than the screen it's being viewed on. But nice TV anyhow!

Since commenting on the picture quality would be null, I'm going to ask - how do you like the led "mood lighting"? It looks neat, but I would think it would be sort of gimmicky.

The pics are means to show the TV and its immediate surroundings anyway. |

It's all business. That's why plasmas are outsold 10 to 1 but LCDs even though they are far superior in PQ and inch per dollar than LCDs. |

Anyway grats on the TV tomash, I absolutely love my 42" Panasonic [thumbup] And you're not wrong about stores, when I viewed mine in John Lewis I asked if I could have the remotes to it, it's 1080 brother and the LCD next to it. Unsurprisingly I found that the contrast and brightness on non-1080P one had been chopped down to about half of what the 1080p panel was set to, and the LCD was outputting some horrible dynamic contrast image which made the colours bleed - but I suppose it made it look 'bright' and 'vivid' in comparison. Anyway, when I calibrated as best I could standing there the Panasonic's were simply gorgeous http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ies/smile1.gif |
I have a Panasonic Viera 42" S10 (Plasma) and I love it. I dont have Battlefield Earth... uh... Planet Earth... but the Pixar Blu-Rays for example are amazing on that screen!
