Default paranoia - how safe is too safe?
Airport security is a total ****ing waste of time. All it does is provide an illusion of security, while incriminating and violating law abiding citizens. Meanwhile, mexicans can do a cartwheel right into our country, pop a kid out, and create a new American citizen.

yeah, I read this article this morning. That TSA employee who originally refused and his supervisor should be shot. Ok, maybe just strung up someplace where rotten tomato's like to fly. This was wrong on so many accounts.

Airport security is a joke, it's an industry created by itself.

Ever wonder why pilot's are screened, yet baggage handlers walk through a door completely bypassing security?

If a pilot wanted to cause a plane crash he doesn't need a bomb or weapons, he can simply fly the thing into the ground [surrender]

Bloody muppets those who think the measures either help or are effective.

Agreed as well.

As somebody has once said - "Security on keeps honest people honest". Those who really seeks to cause harm and chaos will do so, regardless of security. All of the airport security is really like a doctor treating only the symptoms of an illness, rather than working on the root of the problem.

When I flew about 4 months ago I was in total agony with my back (double-hernia on my spine - lower back) - so I was wearing my back brace. At the security screening checkpoint they made me take it off, then stand about for almost 20mins whilst they scanned it, swabbed it and checked my bags. Without my brace on I was almost screaming in pain and unable to stand. Lovely.

Exactly - as I put it "A lock will only keep an honest man out"
They're just patching over the cracks but it's what the administrations have to do to keep the ignorant happy!
However, the more serious security agancies seem to be doing a pretty good job, dispite the difficulties and the press actually giving people information in how to sabotage aircraft, etc! The press should STFU about the means used by the terrorists or criminals AND how they get caught! All the are doing it tipping them off about what does or doesn't work!!!!

Neeyik, IIRC, you have a family member with a condition, however I do agree [shocked] with Snoopy on this - there are too many euphemisms in use and they just complicate things - the report could simply have said 'slow muscular development' and everything would be clear without offending any parties!

Like gun control... or DRM - all we do is screw with those who make an effort to obey the law.
The terrorists have won.
QFT. Basically that's all that needed to be said.

Screw TSA in the a$$hole. I wouldn't do a thing that they say other than complain and file charges afterwards.

They're not even trained other than how to run their little scanning devices.

It might not be very descriptive, but calling this person retarded is totally incorrect, especially if the handicap is purely physical. Would you call someone who has cerebral palsy retarded?
Well since they deleted my first post, I can't refer to what I said in that, But I guess saying retarded could be considered to be an incorrect term to use, If someone is physically disabled and the disablement is not mentally.

So ok, using the word retarded to describe the boy in the story is incorrect as the story states his impairment (I guess that's PC too) is Physical.

I probably did write the first couple of posts, quite hastily, as I'm in work now and was in a rush to get out on site, so could have worded it a little better, but even though others might take offence at me using the word "retarded", At least I don't resort to to name calling when I feel offended by what someone else has written.

To be honest, the whole thread is the last thing on my mind now, after someone's insulting comments, so I'll leave it at that.
