Default free temporary webspace?
afternoon all,

i would like to show a client the progress on a website i am building for them. are there any companies that offer a solution such that i could upload the website for a short while (just long enough for them to have a look and send me some feedback)? Dont mind if its advertalicious, just dont want to pay for it and have no webspace of my own at the mo

thanks

Not meaning to be harsh on your but wouldn't it be wise to have your own space being a web developer and all?

im not really a web designer per se, just do this if/when people ask me to - along with home support but its farming that pays the bills. nothing like a bit of variety!!

Does your ISP not give you any space?

Failing that, I can host for you if needed

Look into something like GoGrid or Amazon EC2. It's not free, but it might be easier than finding something free that isn't horrible. They offer cloud/virtual servers where you pay for how much RAM you are using per hour and also generally bandwidth.

For example, at GoGrid a Windows 2003 Server(they offer Linux too) instance using 512MB RAM costs $0.10 per hour and $0.29 per GB of outbound bandwidth. So if you need a server for 6 hours, and transfer 200MB of data, it would only costs about $0.66.

It is really handy when you need a server for a demo, or some temporary testing. Maybe overkill for plain HTML, but if you need any server-side functionality it's a great short-term solution. For long term solutions, shared hosting or a VPS are a better deal.

thank you for the offer

not sure on the ISP... we get letters saying its changed most months - originally with toucan, then someone else, now tiscali i think?? anyway, its all sorted now have an account with 000webhosting

edit: Insane, thanks for the insight but like you say a little overkill for a tiny little site. It is literally so the site can be looked at so she can offer up some feedback - im sure the 000webhosting account will suffice...

Yeah their server must be buggered because I tried to go to a site I'd 'setup' there and that doesn't load either...

oh now it says server is too busy.
