Howard Zinn also died. A People's History of the United States did not suck.

I thought it was a good book.

RIP, JD Salinger.

Had no choice but to read it in High School. It seemed "OK" at the time. I read it later on in life, and it was actually a good read.

RIP

Sweetheart, catcher is among the most sophomoric works considered great literature

If you could read you would know that

If you could read you would know that
Now if only we could bury his book with him
Now if you would ever learn to complete a post or how to edit...
Post count means a lot to you, doesn't it? That's the "child" thing again.

RIP. But that book still really sucked. I felt like cheering when the pimp smacked him around. Anybody who thinks "Catcher" was a masterpiece needs their douchebagometer checked.

Forced to read Catcher my junior year in HS and resented it greatly. But Salinger was a talented writer. It's a shame he left us such a small catalog.
A rumor is circulating that he told neighbors that he had a dozen or so unpublished manuscripts locked away in his home safe.

CitR doesn't suck. Twilight sucks. CitR is just alright. Not deserving of the massive praise it gets, sure, but certainly far from awful.

I'd much rather read about gay vampires seducing stupid teenage girls than read Holden Caulfield call one more person a "goddam poser".

Is sophomoric supposed to be an insult to the work?

It's only sold 65 million copies worldwide... won numerous awards... many of the most knowledgable experts call it a great work... Many other great writers call his work inspirational and key to their own work... But I guess your opinion outweighs all the real experts in this field.

If you don't like it, that's your opinion.. that's fine. But most of the rest of the experts think it's a great work, and I happen to agree with them.
As a hack writer over the years, I too found it an inspiration.

Im glad you saw the same Ming

Many experts who judge did so accordingly and found him an inspiration.

I'm sure that many of your contemporaries would say it's a good book as well. I guess it's only those who are intellecturaliy challenged that can't see the value of his work.

I take great pride in my status as an intellectural, actualiy. And that book had substantial value. As compost. Holden is one of the most unlikeable characters ever to ruin American fiction, and his eyeballs-deep-in-entitlement story says nothing meaningful about life as a teenager, an American, or a human being.

This isn't a debate. This is me enjoying the simple pleasure of laughing at slowwy because he's too dumb to see that elok's misspelling was obviously deliberate.

I was going to post something like that, when it occurred to me that pointing out the obvious about something obvious was too painful in ways I can't describe.

The thing is, about KH, facts matter none at all. You'll get called a 'tard, but that's about it.
DaShi runs behind him, cackling like a raving loon.
