Default Book of Eli, WTF? (mini spoiler)
Seriously, if I'd wanted to be slapped around the face with a Bible for an hour and a half I'd have gone to church.

Not even a decent Post-Apoc movie either IMO.

I loved the pacing, the cinematography, soundtrack and overall feel of the movie. I expected to hate it as per the reviews, but I liked it just fine. Complaining about the bible being the book seems a bit strange. Did you complain when indy went after the ark of the covenant? The movie wasn't over preachy to me.

And at the end, when everything is revealed, I realised what a good job they did throughout the movie with Eli's situation. The book of eli isn't an A+ or anything, but a solid B+ in my book.

you guys are a bunch of whiners.. how many times do atheists or people with agendas expose their movies to religious people?? I don't even know what this movie is about but you shouldn't act like it never happens the other way around..

You're right, lots of atheists ring my door bell trying to convince me there is no god.

I suppose I got annoyed cause it was described as "A man walking across the land carrying the salvation of man". Then it's a Bible.

Yes, because after a massive world wide war the one thing the we would really need is a Bible to make things right again.

Especially since there is a damn good chance that the bible(or "holy book" of some sort) was probably what sparked the war in the first place.

Death to the non believers!!!

[rolleyes]

Whatcha got there Eli? The last scientific research paper on how to revatalise the Earth? Methods for purifying water? Agricultural instructions and supplies? How about a map to a subterranian shelter with unlimited supplies? No? Oh a Bible? That's much better!

The movie does sound retarded.

I'm looking forward to The Road however. The novel was one of the best I've read in years.

That's why I haven't gone to see it yet. It appears to have potential, but the bible thing kinda makes it lackluster. I like post-apoc movies, but this just seems kinda gimp.

Prepare to be delightfully disappointed.

Yeah, but they didn't takes sides with it. They even stated that it helped to cause the war, and Gary Oldman was going to use it to control everyone.

He didn't do anything with it but preserve along with all the other religious texts. They don't really force Christianity bullshit down your throat so I'm not sure what you are whining about.

Reminds me of the Rama series of novels by Arthur C. Clarke. What excitement, what profound ideas, what unique species and story arcs, but how will it all tie up in the last 20 pages of the last book in the series? Oh...

Couple of odd/annoying things (really very minor), but otherwise a very faithful rendition I thought. Even with Viggo!

I liked it, Denzel Washington is a bad ass.

I don't see why people want to complain out it's subject, the name of the movie is "The book if God" what were you expecting? (Eli is the name of God in Hebrew and Arabic) Seriously, it's like going to Church and complaining about the Bible being read to you.

Oh and Mila Kunis is so freakin sexy. [thumbup]

I think Golden Compass may push in that direction (haven't seen it, just remember people saying) but he's just being a moaning, defensive little bitch as per usual.
