Shame the software sucks until Maemo 6 and Symbian Next hits.
![]() http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technolog...ne-battle.html The new Nokia navigation product trumps rivals' current offers. It is free, covers 74 countries and installs the map information directly on the handset. In contrast, users of Apple's iPhone have to pay around $70 to download a similar application from Dutch navigation device maker TomTom. Google's product is free, but only available to the relatively few users of its Android operating platform and only in North America. It also requires an active cellular connection. |

The new Ovi Maps is pretty decent. 3.x is much better than 2.x but still not as good as Google maps from a usability and speed perspective, IMO. Of course, if you've got one of the devices that's supported as of today I can't imagine a reason why you wouldn't want this. You get a fully-featured navigation package from the world's largest mapmaker on your phone with substantial location-based info that you can access without using the network and it's free forever. Score.
According to Nokia, this release supports 20-odd million devices in the market right now. This is how you put the hurt down on your competitors - sorry Garmin and TomTom. The number of Androids in the States offering Google's package is a tiny fraction of this and people were saying that it was the end of standalone GPS navigation devices. If Google's offering was the end of Garmin and co., then what is this? Now... When will it be available for my E71, Nokia! [help] |

Because i do clock up miles on the road with my job i have used the Noika GPS software to help get me from a to b.
Personally never had any major issues though they could have updated maps in some ares quicker than they did. As for who ever said it loads and hangs, update the software to latest Ovi maps version, then delete all downloaded maps and install new maps. |

It's on the E72, maybe time for an upgrade? I've got my heart set on a Maemo device now, anyway. If the N900 supported 3G bands in Canada I would have it now. Get working, Nokia. ICBM on their business model? |
