They didn't die, therefore they don't qualify.

There've been a few of these sorts of stories, about people walking on frozen water. But, according to another forum I frequent, it's apparently "OK" because "people used to skate on frozen ponds in the olden days". [rolleyes]

yes they did, but usually on specially made shallow lakes/places.

also he said candidate, to me that means nominee for award but they obviously didn't get awarded the Darwin award.

They didn't die
Which, to be frank, is the real disappointment in this story.

Meanie - but hey, they're young with many more chances to qualify ahead of them [thumbup]

They are 24. Anyone who has got to the age of 24 without realising that a 1.5 tonne car won't be supported on a frozen canal top is just wasting valuable oxygen that the rest of us could be using.

Honestly, I have done some stupid things and I usually grin and smirk when other people do silly things as they are generally fun, but these two may breed one day.

I think the guy on the right is Kyros.

I guess now he and his friend will have to go on anal trips in the Civic.

Well, to be fair, where I live, every winter since forever there's literally thousands of people out on every lake and river ice fishing. Thousands of people driving their vehicles, planting their 10x10 shacks, etc.

So it really is not that big of a deal, you just have to not be an idiot and understand the ice has to be a certain thickness to be safe.

Might not be worth the travel expense.

Send a video though.
