Well, a review is in! Movie of the year I say.

... Now I just need to actually see it.

The reviews I've read have been good, and some people are calling it a classic--already!

Can't wait to see it.

At 94% on Rotten Tomatoes after 50 reviews...

It's pretty much the highest reviewed major release of this year! [thumbup]

I mean, I was really excited to see it, and thought it would be great, but I definitely didn't expect it to be reviewed THIS well!

That's why I said 'pretty much' . But it doesn't matter, District 9 is now at a 95% after over 60 reviews.

September 4th release date for the UK. It's the first movie I've been looking forward to for longer than I can remember.

its listed as having an international release date of august 14th, is this already out in the states then, do we have to wait another month.

And people wonder why piracy is resorted to

Because you are too selfish and impatient to wait a little bit?

People are selfish and impatient in general, so yeah it may be a contributing factor

and i never said anything about my intentions, ive seen what pirated movies are like and cant understand why anyone would watch them, especially on a long awaited title.

There's different types of release DUR,

The first releases to hit are just CAMs where someone takes a cam into the movie theatre. There is also divx, dvd rips, screener rips, HD/Blu-Ray rips...so you can't just lump them all one category.

Now people that can actually sit through a cam release are pathetic if they can stand that **** quality...but people do....same reason why most people are happy with garabge 128kbps mp3's.

Anyways, people shouldn't be impatient and learn to sit their ass down and wait for it to be released.

Well I just saw it today and I give it a 9.75/10, an almost perfect movie.

The Peter Jackson name continues to mean something!

3.5/4 from me. What makes it so good is that it is so unexpectedly awesome, with no real hype surrounding it. The acting was first rate and Sharlto Copley is a star in the making. Despite borrowing elements from other films (mainly the Fly and Starship Troopers) the overall product feels entirely original and the pacing/length are perfect.

Go see it (legally) now and support a great film.

A lot more movies get international release dates than used to these days - due to piracy and a more global media. I grew up in a town with a small independent cinema, so I had to wait an extra few weeks or even months on top of the UK release before they obtained a physical copy of the film, pretty much when other cinemas had finished showing it

I thought it was awesome. Very well done IMO. My wife didn't like it though. She's not into sci-fi kinda stuff tho.
