Yeah, but it's slightly ironic that the whole point of it was to say "we wont buy x factor garbage like you want us to" with the " **** you I won’t do what you tell me" lyrics... but now everyone's being pushed into buying RATM to not be pushed into buying x factor ****...

It really is the most stupid protest going to be honest if you think about it.

RATM were signed on Epic Records and the "Killing in the Name" single was also released on Epic, which is part of Sony BMG (**** You, I won't do what you tell me, indeed [rolleyes]).

Cowell's label (whatever it is) is also part of Sony BMG so at the end of the day, whoever you buy, your money is still going to the same overall company.... in fact all this is doing is increasing the amount of money Sony BMG are going to make over Xmas anyway.

I'm not sure I'm following this but isn't the protest they are mentioning supposed to be about not wanting such manufactured pop? Well then point made. It's a hard push to suggest that RATM are manufactured pop. Unless the whole thing is yet another Simon Cowell setup to sell more records. LOL

Epic has been home to hundreds of artists including Sepultura Ted Nugent and Quiet Riot.

Yeah it is but I don't see what it is supposed to achieve.... "One of your manufacutred pop-pap stars is going to make lots of money and be number one.... to get you back and really stick it to you we are going to buy loads of copies of another single you own the rights to and put more money in your pocket... take that!"

To be honest I doubt the execs are going to change their mind about the crap they produce if everyone clubs together to buy a different track they own the rights to instead...

I think Xmas needs to go back to how it was ( no not Cliff Richards at number one every year lol ) More proper xmas themed songs, rather than the xfactor song. Nobody bothers making christmas songs now, as they know that that they have no chance of getting No.1 and sales will be poor.

exactly. Even though i hated pretty much every cheesy crap xmas song there has been. its always been about having that cheese as number one. yeah even when it was mr blobby. at least it was fun. X factor took all the fun out of the christmas number one.

anyone hear RATM on radio 2 the other morning, promising they would not swear, lmao.

its like channel 4 doing there alternative christmas speech at the sametime as the queen,
just showing you there is something else apart from the comercial crap there is nowadays.

Basically..... the X-Factor has a new winner ever year just before xmas, and their song always goes on to be the xmas number one. I think this has happened the last 5 or 6 years. This year a group was started on facebook to encourage people to buy an alternate song to stop it happening again.

Isn't your biggest star David Hasselhoff? But yeah, its annoying crap that always gets to number 1. I miss the cheesy race to get the xmas winner, hopefully this will break the cycle forever.

Well about 11.5 million questions with various answers here

http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en...Hasselhoff+pop

Over 40 gold and platinum records, 'Knightrocker' at number 1 for 8 weeks, sung on the Berlin Wall in front of a million people. As movie execs are fond of saying - you do the math!
