Brings to mind the old school joke, what do you call a student who gets a C- in all his courses in medical school.

A doctor.

I personally have never had any issues with the medical field. Or drug related. Dental, I have.

To those who are getting bad coverage or pricey coverage, if your employer is making you chances are it DOES NOT have to be with them. You can also check the state options (assuming you are in america). I get insurance through my employer, (I just started with Blue Cross Blue shield) so naturally its pretty good, still costs money but not horrible either.

My wife and my kids are on Medicaid. Never had any issues with billing, quality of service is great. Doctors shouldn't care what their customers are covered under because either way they get paid.

And if your employer WONT let you have another coverage, and it sucks that bad, time to evaluate if that is a good place to stay at. I did work for Cox Communications, and they had a great health insurance plan as well. I've worked at other places where it wasn't that great.

It looks like it has been addressed already but yes ER visits are extremely costly. My wife stepped on a rusty nail and had to get a tetnus shot. We were there for about a total of 3 hours. Cost nearly 800.00. Medicaid covered it all.

However to a person who couldn't have that done, that 800.00 might only need to be 200.00, but that's where you evaluate if you think its safe to wait until morning and go to a normal clinic or the er.

What's a moran? Is that an attempt at name calling?

I actually liked their beef. Sure, the 85-15 that we ground from trimmings when I was working in the meat department was usually, better, but the premade stuff wasn't bad at all.

Just wondering, but wasn't one of Obama's promises when he became President to overhaul the health system? Bringing in something similar to the NHS that we have over here?

(and my employer has to pay about the same I think, I don't have a payslip handy to check, anyone from the UK know?)
12.8% on salary and P11D benefits, assuming any pension provisions are contracted-in to SERPS/S2P (earnings related state pensions).

That's what all of the debate around socialised health care is currently about in the US
