Default So who here has had their drivers licence suspended?
Well I got a notice in the post today that I have a speeding fine and 6 months suspension of my licence. This is the penalty for going 43km over the limit (100km limit).

So who here has had this happen?

The problem is that there is just no way I can live day by day without driving where I live. So pretty much I'm going to have to keep breaking the law for 6 months until I get it back.

I remember the day too, I was upset that I had finished work on Sunday and miss out on a family event. Anyhow, I have built up so much stress and when I do I tend to start speeding in anger or thrashing the car in general.

I'm a little bit cut inside about it, however I just don't see any alternative but to keep breaking the law until I get it back. If I somehow get caught, then I guess I just forever keep breaking the law. lol.

Six months ban for doing 88mph in a 60mph is a bit harsh i think, then again it is well over. The repercussions of a ban are the real punishment though, and it's a bit of a tricky situation. I have no idea what i'd do.

The problem I just realised is that I just read that the road cameras here can alert police to cars that are on the road that are owned by suspended drivers. Since I have to use toll ways with car registration plate detection, I probably come up on these.

I tell you what I'm cut about. I finally meet someone I like and I want to take them out... and now I get this ****.

Erm.

Serves you right.

Complaining about getting banned for speeding is like like ordering a cake for desert and complaining they give you too much cake.

I'm trying to think of how to take the heat off. If my parents didn't live interstate I'd be asking them to swap cars so they at least drive my car on that would be flagged as a suspended driver and I drive with their plates.

Don't dig this hole any deeper for Christ's sake. Is there no way you can appeal the ban? In the UK, even though we're as harsh as hell, that would only be 3 or 6 point's on your licence, of the 12 you get for a ban.

I think it's suspension due to losing too many points. We get 12, I this is a 6 pointer.

I have no idea what to feel. I feel, sad, sick and just didn't see this one coming. Technically I've already been driving on suspended licence for 4 days now. lol.

Here in NL you will only get suspended if you break the limit by 50km/h. (speedwise)

edit: oh btw I told you your good karma was over

Yeah tell me about it.

But what is upsetting me the most is losing a potential girlfriend. I just don't know how I'm going to break it to her. She's only just met me and I'm seeing her on Monday. What on earth will she think. [no]

I need to drive into work on the weekends too. The trains are frigging hopeless on weekends. Also I need to drive to the train station anyhow.

Make an objection. There should be an adress or government website to tell you how to do that.

Driving while license is suspended is NOT ADVISEABLE. This means that when you get pulled over you're going to be in deeper shi.t than what you are in now. Also if any kind of accident happens while you are the driver.. PLus I don't think your insurance company will pay anything. Horaaay for life payments.

I just don't know how I can survive living here if I don't have a car. The only option is to move back in the city and might aswell sell the ****ing car so it doesn't cost me anything.

I'm with golem. Now you could appeal your situation for a work driving permit only.

Speed in moderation. I never exceed the speed limit by more than 30km/h.

I guess you'll have learned your lesson, driving fast is fun, and I can only imagine driving a nice car on huge roads you have in Australia. At the end of the day, rules are rules and you can't break them.

I was suspended cause of my epilepsy for a year, I started driving again in March. It even worse being suspended when you've done nothing wrong at all.

Do you have any kind of advanced driving programs over there, perhaps you can ask to be put through one for a lesser punishment.

Bummer dude. No offence but 43km/h over is pretty big, the fine must have been big also. I'm not going to tell you off cause of this as I've done close to 100km/h over the speed limit but only in deserted areas where there are no cars, no houses and usually nothing but surrounded by trees.

If I'm on the highway I do my best to keep within 5-10km/h over or keep to the speed limit. But 43km/h [shocked]. Last time I did that was on Sydney-Newcastle freeway at like 4am in the morning so I had the road all to myself.

So who here has had this happen?
Not yet, but who knows I might get unlucky one day.

The problem I just realised is that I just read that the road cameras here can alert police to cars that are on the road that are owned by suspended drivers. Since I have to use toll ways with car registration plate detection, I probably come up on these.
Time to take another route. I don't have a toll tag thingy mabob so when I go down to Sydney which is full of toll ways I have to take the longer way around. Usually around 10-20 minutes longer but I honestly don't care. The scenery is better and I don't get stuck in a tunnel full of pollution.

I tell you what I'm cut about. I finally meet someone I like and I want to take them out... and now I get this ****.
Don't worry about it.

Dude chill out. My pops got his license suspended many times and his last one lasted 12 months. Still drove the car every single day. So long as you don't be an idiot whilst driving and get mad and speed you will be fine.

My uncle also got his license suspended and still drove it every day. Got busted again for drink driving though so he deserved the bigger fine and charges laid against him for being an idiot. But he continued driving and never got busted again until he got his license back. Then got caught speeding again. Got his license suspended but still drove carefully until he got them back.

I guess what I'm trying to say is this. You can still drive (illegally) but don't be a fricken idiot, drive safe and obey the road rules and you will be fine. I'd also forget about the camera bs as well. They won't pick you up as your car isn't stolen or unregistered or anything and your suspended license has nothing to do with your cars number plates as anyone can drive your car.

And if your really worried, just avoid all toll ways and take the long way round.

This is the WORST advice EVER.

DO NOT drive while your suspended. If something happens and you get in an accident or anything, your insurance company will tell you where to go and the other poor driver involved would have to cough up even if it isnt their fault.
Also if you get caught, its more fines or even a prison sentance and to be honest, you would deserve it as you are a criminal.

You were stupid and drove over the limit and now you have to live with the consequences.

It's all relative to the limit though. If you driving in a 50kph zone, doing 80kph probably isn't so wise. doing 140 in a 110 limit though is probably what most people do anyway.

Why must you have a car to get around in? If it's for getting to work, going to have to apply for a work permit, and if you succeed, OBEY the terms! If you don't get one, or it's for pleasure, going to have to bite the bullet and get a pushbike and/or bus and/or taxis, FFS, be honest with the girl - she may drop you for being an idiot but she's MUCH more likely to drop you if she finds out you've been driving her around while disqualified!

I lost my licence for "careless Driving" when I was a kid - the cop thought I was smoking the tyres whereas the truth was I was supplied the wrong valve stem seals and it was pure oil smoke! I wasn't happy about that, to say the least! Then again, there had been times I was close to 100mph over the posted speed limit - it was when there was an "oil crisis" and the open road speed limit was 50mph!

Ohh something just came to mind,
over here if you get your permit restricted, and you still have to get to work somehow and there is no mean of public transportation, you are granted a permit for riding a moped with a max speed of 25km/h.
like this

maybe you guys have a similar option ?
