The funny things is... I wanted to sell some stuff a while back so a friend said put it on craigslist. I took one look at it and said. "This looks like an excellent way to advertise myself for some loon to come and shoot/rape me." Yet a large portion of the country see's it and goes **** yes! Perfect! A year passes and this guy does exactly that.

i don't think many, if any of the victims were the "selling used ipod or TV" types, iirc they were all either blantantly in the sex trade or conspicuous at best in providing messages. Saying that craigslists is somehow risky would mean that all the want ads in any newspaper are also dangerous. I am not saying it is 100% safe, but it is certainly just as safe as newspaper classifieds or the weekly types, around here those are called "Thrifty Nickel".

May be more a case of minimising losses until they get a sucker - sorry, investor - to take it off their hands.

How does Craigslist make money?

I post a ton of things ,mostly car sellin or trading and I never pay a dime to use it. I post about 35 cars per month on there and I always wondered how in the world they actually support the site. Doesnt seem to be any ads on it anywhere.

They've always made money by charging for job listings in some of the bigger cities. I think recently they expanded the number of markets that they charge for job listings.

i think they are charging for those "massage" ads now too

Not 100% sure, but they may charge for real estate ads in larger cities too.

Yeah. It's a new fad among serial killers. They check that guy's fridge to find their next victim.
