I just visited a cash point to get some money out, but when I went to use it there was something attached to the slot where you put your card in. It was green plastic and had a picture of a lock on it. I was suspicious because I didn't know what it was and there have been many cases of criminals attaching things to the card slot of cash points in order to steal customers' card details. I ended up using the cash point next to it that didn't have anything attached to it.

Who was I supposed to report it to? It wasn't at a bank it was at a supermarket. No doubt if I'd asked in there they would have said the cash points weren't anything to do with them. For the record, I'd probably have done nothing about it as well. |

It's apathy like this that means people keep getting ripped off. Would it have really ruined your day to spend five minutes querying the supermarket rather than getting on the nerd express to futuremark? I prefer to interact with as few people as possible when I'm out and about. |

Something like this? Seems like an ultra stupid thing to do by the banks. As it is, its straightforward to spot when something extra is attached to the slot. This changes all that, now if something is attached, it means extra security? [no] |

Usually here when a banks put a new anti-skim device on the cash machine slot, they also make sure that the splash-screen on the ATM itself displays an image of the new device, explaining that its legit.
The NS (the train company here) upgraded all their ticket machines with anti-skim devices last week. Was a bit of a surprise when I rocked up at the train station at stupid-o-clock in the morning I have to say..... Then again - it does not really matter if criminals attached card readers to the slot of an ATM anyway, provided you ensure you cover the keypad when typing your pin. The swiped card data is useless withour your pin. |

Someone there would have known if an authorised technican had been there to upgrade the unit. Asking someone there if a tech worked on the ATM is like asking a 5 year old to do quantum physics. |

I dunno what kind of grocery store you worked at, but when I worked at Kroger nobody knew anything. The same goes for Walmart. At both places you could just wander into the backroom and walk out with stuff as long as you acted like you knew what you were doing. Nobody care about anything except their own job responsibilities, and even then only enough to not get fired. |
