Argh! My maths brain is broken!

This is really annoying me here, got a really simple equation and my head just won't process it. Can someone give me a hand.....

0 = (x)(50,000) + (1-x)(-500)
0 = 50000x .........?

0 = (x)(50,000) + (1-x)(-500)
0 = 50000x - 500 + 500x
0 = 50500x - 500

and therefore...

500 = 50500x
500/50500 = x
x = 0.009900990099 etc

?
