Default Why is it...
That JDM rice owners travel in packs on the interstate? And why do they come up and rev their engines and honk at me trying to race? I hate it they are a waste of my time and and annoying danger cutting in and out of traffic to annoy me.[cursing][cursing]

Because they're just dying to test out their new Type-R sticker.

I get people trying to race me at the lights in their Type Rs, Imprezas and the like, even though my 0-100mph is about 8.5sec.

I just let them get on with it.

I had a incident a few years back when i was still living in Seattle. My wife was driving her Bonneville and i was in the passenger seat and these punks came up to her side trying to get her to race ,honking swerving towards her.We got to the stop light and i get out out the car and start yelling **** at them which icant remember, there were two of them so i figured id have my hands full fighting off two people but alas they drove off instead laughing ..w/e punk kids. With any luck they lay in a casket crudely sewn back together by a sloppy mortician with nothing left to remember them by then a white cross on the side of the road.

I have little tolerance for young people let alone irresponsible male teens with free money ( parents ) and no respect so needless to say im abit angry when it comes to this stuff

A heavily modified Silver Rose Turbo S corner balanced at 2500lb 50/50 and 401hp/380ftlb on pump gas and 15lb of boost. Numbers from my last dyno sesh.

Looks stock from the outside besides the fat R compound tires in the rear.

Hormones.. immaturity.. etc.

It goes both ways really, you have douche bags in cheap cars as well as in more expensive cars that do this. Although, the ratio is greater among the cheaper cars lol.

Nice build btw. Do you drive it daily or is this just a weekend/track toy?

Cheers.

I am usually very respectful of other people's property, but I think I might take a dump on that car if given the chance. I mean seriously... it looks even more pretentious without a shred of class than a Hummer stretch limo.

I often get twats pulling up beside me on the motorway blip-ping forwards then dropping back then blip-ping forwards again in an attempt to get me to open up the taps.

but I never bother I just wave at them whilst pulling a cheezy grinned cross eyed face

I have no idea, the term Rice bothers me though, and I think a lot of people are using it wrong.

The stock looking G35 coupe with the skyline badges and the sinister sounding BoV that I saw a few months ago = Not rice

The early 90's Toyota Corolla with the huge aluminum and carbon fiber spoiler, 3.5" chrome exhaust lined with red LED's and the Type R badges on it that I also saw a few months ago = Rice.

I guess my point is IMHO the term Rice should be used for JDM cars that are all show and no go. If the car has go to back up the show then it's something else.

I live near Seattle and I see lots of strange things wandering around on the streets, some good some bad, but nothing makes me smile more than the sound of a BoV coming from a stock looking car that never had a turbo from the factory, and I get that once every few months up here.

I concur. I guess I got the term JDM from the pack of cars buzzing around me. Each one had a JDM sticker. "IT'S JDM" or "JDM AS F&#$", or "UNIQUE JDM" that last one really got me cause the last two cars in the pack were almost identical and they both had that sticker. I seriously doubt they had any JDM parts what so ever, pretty sure they have never seen any track time nor be allowed to by judging by the smoke.

They better watch out cause they are giving the JDM name a bad wrap.

I really don't care the make of the car. If its fast around a track, or in a straight line that's pretty cool. And can totally respect, even if it is a FWD. Its the ones that have a POS civic with lights and stickers that think their cars are the bees knees and actually think they are fast that get my goat.

WIZISME - It's the car in my sig, I can post more pics and the dyno sheet when I get home.

kabal99 - Thanks mate, it's my daily right now. I am having troubles with my standalone ECU that I put in a few days ago, so it sucks to drive at the moment, I keep my laptop hooked up to it on my drives slowly tuning it as I go.

Looking to get an E46 M3 HPF Stage 2.5 with the SMG as my daily in the next year to two. Some days you just want an auto trans!

It annoys me too. But you have to remember most of them are young and don't know any better. Who here didn't think there first car was fairly fast, only to realise later on it was really a POS?

mzman, that is one sick car [yes] I can't even call it a car, seems like a poor word, IMO. Those kinds of things to me are works of art. I salute anyone who has the money/time/knowledge etc to create such glorious beasts.

I can't stand those kids that have that POS $600 Civic with the $300 "buzz-buzz" muffler thing stuck on the back, that pukes out the puff of blue smoke when they "launch" from the stop light [rofl]

I personally don't like working on anything with less than 10 wheels bolted to it. I've been a diesel tech for over 15 years, and currently at a Western Star dealership.

I play with this kind of iron

Guilty I had a Porsche 944 NA with 180hp as my first car when I turned 18. It was bright red too! (See avatar) I didn't do that stuff like that though.

To this day I have 0 tickets and 0 accidents! (Knock on wood)

Maybe cause they think your stock? The car stock is slow, at least compared to your standards.

A slightly modified Ricer mobile could at least be able to somewhat hang with a Stock Turbo S 944. Who knows, maybe they attached a turbocharger to their engines? They are pretty cheap and easy to put in and add loads of power to these things.

They most likely also don't know anything about the car. The size of the engine, the power figures, ect. ect.
