I have been a contact lens wearer for about 11 years now. Most people wear soft contact lenses but I wear a less common type called RGP (Rigid Gas Permeable). They are not as comfortable as soft lenses (I had to go through a week or two long adjustment period when I started wearing them) but they have several advantages.
One is that they give me better eyesight than soft contacts, because the harder lens actually reshapes my cornea and holds it in place. I once tried soft contacts and only lasted a few days before I went back to RGP. Another advantage is that lenses have microscopic pores that let air through to your eyes, making them healthier. And then there is the price - about $50 dollars a lens, and they last for a year! The solution is more expensive though - about $9 for a little bottle, but it does last for almost 2 weeks. |

-5.25 & -4.75, although I can tell I'm due for a stronger prescription next time around. My poor night vision is what really gets me though. I avoid driving at night if possible, and if it's raining as well, forget about it. I wear glasses and have since I was about 7. I'd love to get laser correction someday if I could afford it!
