I know how you feel.

I haven't had a smoke in a little over a month now myself. I was already on Chantix getting ready to quit anyways, but I went in to the store to buy another pack and they wanted to charge me $18 for 4 packs. I just said enough is enough and haven't had a cig since.

Good luck, I quit cold turkey back in the middle of June. I didn't smoke at work since then but I cheated a little bit by smoking a pack each over the next few weekends after but after the 4th of July weekend I haven't had one since. I still get the occasional urge every now and then but it's easy enough to ignore. I feel so much better.

I guess this is to all you people who have quit or are in the process of quitting:

What advice would you give to someone who wants to quit?

I bought my girlfriend an electronic health cigarette with a lot of filters to use and help her off them

She thought it was horrible at first but got used to it after a while. Odd thing is its good enough for her to use in bed at night or in the mornings when she's too lazy to get out of bed but not when she says she's really stressed and needs a fag [cursing] she doesnt smoke in the house and hates the smell of smoke yet still smokes [cursing][cursing]

The e-cigarette as it known actually works for her yet she still smokes and only uses the health one when its inconvenient for her to smoke real cigarette's

Her smoking doesnt bother me because she never does it around me, she never smells of them or has bad breath because of them, she has gone hours with me not smoking at all but yet still tells me she really needs one sometimes

She even quit for 2 and a half weeks and then went back to smoking after one of her friends really pissed her off apparently

See that's what really bothers me. People will do so well to stay off them and then at the first sign of possible stress: out comes the cigarette.

When I get stressed out of if someone pisses me off, I will just sit back and chew on an ice cube or something. It's moth metaphorical AND refreshing!

I am however very sympathetic towards smokers, as my partner is a smoker as well. But I won't force her to quit. I tell her it would be good if she does, but I don't get pissed off about it. She refuses to smoke in may car, and smokes only on the balcony at our place. She also will not smoke around children, and has been making a consious effort to reduce the amount she smokes (mainly due to financial reasons). She knows she will quit one day, but I guess its up to her.

I read Allan Carrs Easy way to quit smoking, it really helps remove the power that cigarettes have over you. So during stressful times you don't fall back to smoking because you realize it won't help 1 bit to remove the stressful situation...

What does smoking do? give you a craving or something? I will admit I tried it once or twice and hated. It tasted gross, smelt bad and just didn't feel good at all. And it drives me nuts when people smoke around me, I can't breath and end up coughing or having to hold my breath and walk away[cursing].

My pop smokes and it blows through my bedroom window at night when I'm in bed, I have to shove the pillow over my head to stop me from smelling it. I've only ever had a craving for two things. Coke and food. Both of which I can walk away from. But then again addiction doesn't run in my family, almost every one in my family that smoked or drinks alchohol can walk or has walked away from it with out looking back and had no troubles doing so.

I guess I'll never be able to understand how people become addicted to things[no]

If you want to quite you've really got to "Want" to quit.
If you don't then you will fail - simple as.

As to the method you choose, that is up to you.
Me and the wife decided on "Cold Turkey" and we stopped at the same time.
This also had the advantage that neither of us wanted to be seen as weak to the other - so we kept each other going.
I'm pleased to say it was a total success.
We both threw away all of our remaining cigarettes one Saturday evening and here we are 5 years later and haven't smoked since.

Been there done that. Sorry but no affect[no], Even drunk and smoked pot and it didn't do anything. Except made me want to go to sleep[rofl].

But I rarely drink these days. When I used to drink maybe every once a week or two I got pains in my shoulders. Took almost a year before my recent gf told me her grandfather had the same problem and it was known as gout (which I just found out today runs in my family). I now only drink maybe once or twice a year.

EDIT: I don't personally believe I have gout, but the pains I get in my shoulders are rather annoying. I usually have to keep drinking until i get drunk enough to ignore it.

Go get Allan Carrs Easy Way to Quit Smoking... it's worked for everyone I've lent it to. No will power needed.
