You forgot your popcorn, didn't you! [yes]

These movies lose half the fun if you don't have a good mouthful of popcorn! [rofl]

It'll be fun to watch, but absolutely nothing original. I saw the regurgitation of at least 10 different movies.

Ohh to be 13 again! This movie would be sweet.

I was wondering the same thing, but when you spend as much on CG as they did, it just has to make sense.

Seems to me the writer was inspired by those rides where you go into the moving room that makes you feel like you are flying, e.g. star tours.

Well, actually it seems to me that a lot of "Summer blockbusters" have been like that for the last few years. At this point, you have to see them exactly as the "roller coaster ride" that the reviewers describe, with very few ambitions to be much more than that.

Even old favorites like Independence Day fit easily into that category. Science fiction movies that aspire to the level of "Contact" are few and far between for the simple reason that nowadays, the vast majority of sound-bite America would fall into a coma of boredom at such pretension.

Micheal Bay! BOOOOMMMM!!! just about describes where we are now. Nothing wrong with that, as long as you don't expect more. [surrender]

Everything is wrong with that. The past few years has been horrible for pop/mainstream films. So much disposable rubbish.... Seems like they finally found the secret generic formula to **** out any film and get people to like it.....well.. braindead people anyway. I can only think of 3 recent films i've seen at the cinema that were actually good...

Moon
District 9
Watchmen
[dots]

Thank god for the non-hollywood films that skip the cinema and go straight to DVD.

found that out a long time ago, but I'm actually surprised by how calm he is lately...

the special effects for this movie look good, but I guess that's just it. I couldn't finish transformers 2 although it had great effects... the story was just too lame.. we'll see...

Agreed, his maneuvering through Los Angeles downtown is only for special effects sake and presents absolutely no practical purpose other than putting the people in the plane at risk.

They take off before the plane has reached its full take off speed so if they tried to climb too fast the plane would stall.

Looks like a good mindless disaster movie romp to me, they are all the same, the main stars have to put themselves in grave danger every few minutes, otherwise there would be no film, it's not about being realistic, it's about edge of the seat, mindless action and few lone survivors escaping the worst of it after a terrible ordeal. If it was about reality then they'd all just sit there, 5hit in their pants and get squashed by buildings. The End. Not much of movie there. [rofl]
