Your courseload probably cost more than my car. How many courses do you take in a semester?

Speaking of fiction, there's new dragonlance and WoT coming out.

Germanic philosophy? eww. If you can make it through the Phenomenology without pulling out your hair then you're going to be ahead of just about everyone in your class.

That is a lot of books for only 5 courses! I don't think I had that many in my whole first two years.

I only have 3 courses this semester, so I don't think I will have many books. I have 2 second year Philosophy classes as electives (Legal Thinking and Logic and Deduction) and 1 fourth year computer science elective (Networks 2). Best part is, they are all only on Tuesday and Thursday, so I have Monday, Wednesday and Friday off all semester. Picking up some hours as a TA in the computer science department though.

ya ive never been a big fan of kant as i pretty much find him like pulling teeth. havent read hegel before but have heard decent things about him so hopefully its not as bad as you say. and everyone loves nietzsche! damn its all pretty much german, didnt even notice that. gadamer and fichte i have never read as well.

its surprising because im not taking any 'german philosophy' class

I would probably stick pins in my eyes if I had to read all that. Another reason I'm a science major.

Props to you though, if you can sift through all of that stuff.

http://www.chegg.com/ is where I get my books from, you rent them instead of buying them and trying to resell them so its alot cheaper.

Math is seriously annoying. I understand its important in computer science... but I couldn't care less about calculus and discrete math.

The first time I cracked the book open and saw the wonderful array of new symbols to learn I wanted to beat my head against a wall. If I wanted a language filled with random confusing symbols I'd learn Japanese. At least that would be useful, cuz then I could hit on hot Japanese chicks.

Philosophy and psychology are interesting. They're not so mundane.

I took the liberty of adding up how much it would cost to rent all of those books for a semester and it came up to be $186.83. That book , Theories of Personality was the most expensive to rent at 62 dollars and 85 cents but most of those books cost 11.99 to rent for a semester. I always make sure to tell people about that website cause I spend less on renting all my books then most people spend for one hard textbook.

Or you can check them out of the library and renew for duration of the course: $0

It actually makes good sense to purchase the books required for your major. Chances are you're going to want to dip into them after college, plus it's a good way to start building your personal library.
