Sitting here with a cup of tea watching P1 on the Red Button.

Last few weeks without any F1 has been horrible!

Valencia is not exactly my favourite circuit but its better than nothing!
Really can't wait for SPA though [thumbup]

Badoers performance unsuprisingly slow, almost 2.5 secs slower than Kimi, but everyone including himself said that the first weekend will go in terms of just practising and getting the feeling of racing

Ferrari looking sadly weak otherwise, too, but luckily it's only practice so far.

Kovalainen did fine, beating Hamilton, who had quite close call with spinning once, not far from the wall, by just a bit.

Grosjean, Renaults new driver, did surprisingly well in his first F1 practice, only second behind Alonso, but I think he has been racing in some other series this season, so he has more "touch" to the racing itself?

Hasn't those talks been going on for over a year now?
It's not going to happen, I'm willing to put actual bet on it.

Alonso is going to end up at Ferrari, it's just a question of when and who he replaces, they are saying the rumour in the paddock is it's Kimi that is going. Let me know the details of your bet though, sounds fun!

ffs, pressed accidently "back" on thumb button on mouse, all text gone [thumbdown]

Anyway, I'm poor, so I could prolly only bet around 20€ against someone putting the same amount for him leaving, but then again, I'm quite sure of my bet so if I had any more spare money, I'd be willing to put that in there too.

Spanish media has been putting Alonso to Ferrari for years now, and now for a year or so they've been trying to replace Kimi with him. Heck, I don't think there has been a week without some spanish magazine having "100% accurate information" how Alonso already has contract with ferrari and kimi is leaving and what not, which occasionally gets picked up by other countries media aswell.

Honestly, there's no reason to replace Kimi excluding perhaps the fact that his salary is higher. Massa hasn't won championship even though it was close call once, and championship win is always good for marketing even if it was couple seasons ago. Also, while Massa has been driving really well now, he was in a bad accident, which undoubtly will at least for some time hurt his speed after he gets back (there's always some psychological, subconscious warning lights going on for a while after accident like that), and considering that he has now been quite even with Kimi overall.. well, he'll end up slower for some time at least.

I'm 99% certain Massa's speed will not suffer like you are saying CB. He was knocked out going down the straight and had no idea what happened. It's the drivers that remember hurtling towrads the wall in an uncontrollable car that are the ones that sometimes lose a little of their edge.

The rumour mill suggests an announcement will be made at Monza confirming the signing of Alonso for those oh so lovable tifosi, so not long to wait either way.

Whitmarsh has piped in and said this:

He doesn't, but his body and unconscious mind does, that's the whole thing, it's not something you can control which slows you down (for a while), but your natural survival instincts.

That article is a bit misleading, same happened in at least one finnish media.
All Whitmarsh has said about Alonso and/or Ferrari (bolding + italics by me):
And he suspects that Alonso's 2010 Ferrari deal is done, with continued speculation there will be announcement confirming the move at the Italian Grand Prix. "I think in reality there are some changes probably with Fernando at Ferrari. That frees up the driver market and every year there is a number of pivotal points during the season which determine what is going to happen in the driver market. http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/77817

Like I said, things should apparently become clearer come Monza, I personally think it's a safe bet Alonso will race for Ferari next year, Kimi will still be racing.... just in Rally cars.

Kimi will be racing for Ferrari, not Fiat, and in F1, not Rally

[rofl] Okay, I don't think any of that is correct. But we will just have to agree to disagree.
