I watched the 1080p version and the Navi look pretty detailed to me.

I can see why people says it is like a video game, the jungle is very... clean, the color palette is different, it doesn't look bad to me, just different.

Umm, is it done completely in CGI, if so then it doesn't look to bad to me. But if it's done with real actors and CGI, then it looks like utter cr@p. It really does look like a PC game in a lot of areas.

Yup, thats what actually made me roll my eyes. If it was completely CGI then it could be a nice Pixarlike thing, but since they use real actors the CGI should blend into reality. This way the CGI looks overdone and out of place. Which in the end (in my eyes) make it look totally cheap. Like I said, 2005 video game cutscenes.

Can someone confirm whether this movie is 100% CGI or not because I couldn't see anything in the trailer that wasn't CGI?

A combination of motion-capture animation, CGI and live action.

I think we will have to view this film in 3D to see what the fuss is really all about, unfortunately can't think of any cinemas near me that do 3D [cursing]

I just assumed they were being motion captured since they don't look real to me. But I guess they must be applying filters to the real actors so they fit in better with the CGI.

Is it not just a big stereoscopic 3D gimmick?
http://www.guardian.co.uk/film/2009/...avatar-3d-film
I think that really depends. I was listening to something on the BBC about it they said he'd spent a decade looking at 3-D cinema. Have you seen T2 3-D: Battle Across Time? The 3D in that is the best I've ever seen and I'm hoping this film can live up to that standard as to be honest none of the recent 3D films have come close to it.
