Liked the trailer, but I enjoyed the 3D Imax experience so much more. I took my family and caught it in the KC Metro area. I live withing 28 minutes of three Imax Theaters and kind of had some choices. It was amazing.

So you've seen the Trailer in HD normal 2D format and also in an IMAX 3D Cinema.

Was the IMAX much better? ie did it make a difference.

Because I was drooling for this movie like a 14 year old girl for the Next Twilight installment, but since seeing the Trailer - it looks too CGi and ... well... too animated to me.

I'm worried Cameron has hyped this too much and shot himself in the foot.

It's very rare for Director's to hype up their own movies - it's normally the marketing team or the general public.

But I've seen footage where Cameron is going round saying that this will be amazing, groundbreaking, will cure cancer and identify the next coming of Christ!

Dangerous Practice... considering there is such a mixed reception to the Teaser Trailer.

In all honesty I'm more hyped about The Wolfman movie now.

I just read the plot of the moviie on wikipedia... So predictable and not a very interesting plot. But reading about the 3d has gotten me excited. I guess this will be a simple action movie with awesome 3d effects/technology never seen before. Worth 8 bucks to check it out IMO. But its a shame the story is so lame.
I would love for movies to be like Dances with wolves... A movie that is long but doesnt feel like it... It makes you experience every emotion.... Joy, laughter, sadness, anger, resentment, hate, and curiosity... Every time I watch Dances With Wolves... I feel those emotions even thought I know the movie by heart. One of the best movies ever IMO

Considering Cameron has never disappointed, I'm surprised to read so many slagging comments.

That comment about it looking like a 2005 video game had me laughing, quite the drastic exaggeration.

Visually, the movie looks stunning. Although I would love to see some 2005 (or even recent) video game cutscenes that came anywhere that fidelity.

3D pisses me the F off. I wear glasses. You can NOT comfortable fit those shitty 3d glasses over prescription glasses. I could buy some acrylic clip-on 3d lenses, but because every damned movie wants to use different lens colors I'd have to have a freaking collection of like 40 clip-ons so that I can be prepared for whatever they decide to use.

Actually, the only clip-ons I've ever seen are red/blue.

Wait.. what's the 3d tech used in this film. I'm confused now. This seems like different tech. And what does this do for home viewing?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RealD_Cinema

Very different system for 3D imaging than the home version and old school using different color lenses.

Can someone confirm whether this movie is 100% CGI or not because I couldn't see anything in the trailer that wasn't CGI?
Seriously? Did you watch it in HD? There are multiple shots with live actors and sets.

Has a unique look, but I always associated Cameron with 18 rate films. Seems movie makers are more interested in mass market nowadays.

@megatron2050, yes I was able to enjoy the HD trailer online, but then applied for those free 3D Imax previews and received four tickets. To me the Imax---whetehr 3D or not will be amazing on the screen that size and hearing the soundtrack with 12,000 watts of power is jaw dropping. I have thought it would be so cool to have your very own Imax. Oh, btw---they checked your ID with the email confirmation and if it didn't match then you were not allowed in...at least at the Imax we were at.

From my perspective I really enjoyed the 3D Experience (but I would have to believe that those 3d glasses can be a pain in the butt for those with perscription glasses...anywho---I will even go see this in the Imax in 3D, now in reference to my better half (my bride)---she did not like the 3D effect---said it was more distracting than enjoyable...not that she didn't like the preview---she, being a non-sci-fi fan ususally avoid these movies but she really liked what she saw and is willign to go see it.

IMO---this movie will be super immersive just in the shear visual and other world exeperience, but not everyone will like it.

I do like how Cameron is testing the waters with audiences around the world to see/hear about the 1st impressions and then they have plenty time to make adjustments.

Cheers for the info/opinion.

It's funny... despite my mild reservations, I'm still definately going to watch the movie.

I've watched the Trailer again a few more times, and must admit it has grown on me a little.
Just wished the aliens' design was a little more imaginative.

Anyways, still a bit of time before the film comes out.
I'll judge it when it comes out.
