I drink it in social situations, as it's just too much crap to deal with having to turn down an offer for a drink all the time. But I'd much rather drink other things.

Edit: And what's the problem with simply saying you don't want a drink. If they're people you socialise with regularly they'll soon learn you don't like beer.

It's such a hassle not drinking beer in those situations, years of turning down drinks I've found people take it in different ways. It's kinda like hanging out with smokers in the smoking area but don't smoke.

Some think you are an idiot and just need to get a taste for it. And offer to buy you drinks!

Some think you just don't want to drink with them and get the shits, as drinking beer with someone is a form of bonding. Usually this will be whoever my boss is, or someone I want to work for!

I drink wine, rum etc if I can. But often that isn't an option.

Seriously it's just so much easier to just drink a beer. But I never drink beer when I'm at home.

Yeah that works, the times I have to drink beer is hanging out after work and forget to pick something up (it might as well be a law to drink beer after work on a Friday in aviation). Or when I get an impromptu invite to stay for a drink.
