I am impressed.

How many of them do you think were ATi/AMD fanboy posts?

I think I got past 2,000 by the end of 2001 mostly due to my heavy debating about Intel being superior to AMD. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/cool1.gif

Tic Tac Took 07-09-2009 12:39 AM

When will I get there?

no02rSx2 07-09-2009 12:46 AM

Weren't AMD better than Intel around that time? http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ies/blink1.gif

Kilsimpaile 07-09-2009 01:51 AM

Hell I don't even have 1000 posts yet and I've been here forever.

Intel was better until AMD brought out their Athlon XP on October 9, 2001, then Pentium 4 got assaulted bigtime. No one was gonna convince me that the previous AMD Thunderbird at 1.33GHz was superior to a Pentium 4 1.5GHz with RDRAM. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/wink1.gif

I was then a staunch AMD supporter until end of 2006 going into '07, when I got my Core 2 Quad Q6600 and have loved Intel more ever since! http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ies/laugh1.gif

AMD was the first to 1GHz in late 2000, I believe. They were at least competitive then (much moreso than now).

ariniaxia 07-09-2009 04:14 AM

Yeah they beat Intel to 1GHz, how sad was that. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ilies/sad1.gif

But, Intel beat them to 2.0GHz and then 3.0GHz unfortunately it did not matter at that point cause today it's all about cores and pathways.

True, but it would still be cool if AMD or Intel dropped a multi-core(4,6,12) 4ghz CPU just for s**** and giggles. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...s/biggrin1.gif

i imagine they could if they wanted, i hit 4.0ghz pretty easy on my i7 (and thats not even its limit)

but yeah it took me a while to hit 2k posts as well and ive been here a while too

you can say you have been here a while if you remember the madonion days[thumbup]

Who did make the first possible 4GHz reachable CPU?

JonnTEN 08-08-2009 06:06 PM

Intels P4 did it quite early on, just that it was 4Ghz of not getting much.

Intel of course.

Even Prescocks could break 4Ghz easy but due to its enoumous heat it required VPC cooling. Here's mine under VPC. That chip was such a scorching POS.
