Just got out of the cinema and [thumbup] Superb film, makes me want to watch the first one all over again ^^
Love Transformers and I'm a huge fan of these new live action movies. Having said that the first 20 minutes or so weren't the best but the film overall was a blast ![]() I won't post any spoilers but I think I'm going to see it again at the IMAX ![]() |

I saw it the other day and was disappointed. The trailers made it seem like a more serious film than the first, with none of the retarded 'humour'. Unfortunately though, it had even more of the retarded 'humour' and shitty dialogue than the first one. The film was about 30 mins too long as well, with the final action scene lasting far too long that it all became a blur of similar looking transformers doing the same stuff over and over. And over again.
I couldn't stand the twins either, they were basically an offensive stereotype that 13 year olds would probably find hilarious. The film comprised of what seemed like at least 1 hour of Megan Fox running at the screen in slow motion with a low cut top as well, which again probably appeals to 13 year olds but not to someone wanting to see a decent Transformers film. Still, there's some great effects going on but they really need to slow the action down a lot more stop it all looking the same. |

Just came out from watching it.
I am a big fan of transformers, dating right back to the first episode of the cartoon in the 80's. Im basically going to pretend this film didnt happen. The Twins are ****ing annoying. Completely out of place. The humor was stupid and there seems to be a fair amount of mild swearing which i dont normally notice but lots of it in this it seems. It really didnt feel like a transformers film to me. Just a lot of big robots in blurry fighting scenes. I know Micheal Bay doesnt tend to focus on plots when making films, but christ i'm sure he can do better than this. What was the deal about the first 30mins? I mean, just cut that **** out, we didnt need to see that. His mother prancing about, the dialogue, it was like watching one of those American college american pie style films. ![]() |

It certainly had its flaws, those you mentioned were probably the worst offenders, but it didn't spoil me really enjoying it. I don't feel the trailers were miss leading, I mean it's giant robots fighting ... pretty much what it says on the tin. The humour was a bit hit and miss, sometimes going a bit too low brow to really be entertaining but I felt the human characters did a slightly better job this time around ... and I did crack a smile more then once at the silly jokes
![]() I also felt the story for the Autobots and Decepticons was more fleshed out and enjoyable, with some great performances all around naturally ^^ There also seemed to be less ridiculous plot devices in this movie, although not completely absent. Making the film more dark would have been appreciated by the older audiences I think but then this is a kids film ... Some spoilers: Going into the film I really thought that they were going to kill Optimus, but I thought that they would wait until the next film to resurrect him. Killing him and resurrecting him within the same film meant he disappeared from the film too soon leaving only a B team of Autobots to carry the film (bar Bumbleebee, love Bumbleebee). That I feel was a mistake but was probably seen as a safer move ... keeping him out and allowing the Decepticons and the Fallen to get a win (not blow up the Sun mind you) would have cast a nice dark overtone and evened the score. I still feel though that the film more then lives up to the original ... End Spoilers Slowing down the action would work great for the larger robots, I mean Prime isn't exactly the most agile in the old cartoons (well, none of them are to be fair), he wins through sheer force and size yet in the live actions movies he's a rather nimble chap. It would be nice to be able to savour the effects but if would also take away from the spectacle to some extent (random gaming thought i.e. going down Quake 3 speed to CS might work). |

thought it was ok, but as ppl have said, those twins p*******d me off.
since when did transformers have funny goofy faces and buck teeth? should look like robots. and yeah megan fox is sexy as hell, you dont need to position her on a motorbike like that in her first shot, to show that (not complaing to hard about that of coure ![]() anyways, was enjoyable but not great. just hoping they get a better director for the next one. |

i'm usually OK with action popcorn flicks (i liked Terminator Salvation), but the first Transformers didn't appeal to me at all. I thought it was terrible script, corny dialogue, extrememly hokey, over the top, ridiculously premiseed action.
For me, it's worth a watch in HD when it comes to PPV or cable, just for the eyecandy and wicked digital sound, but that's about it. I feel the same way about this second one. In fact, I'll probably be less likely to sit through it on PPV than the first. I hope the new GI Joe is done better than Transformers, based on the trailers, it might be worse[no] also, the first Transformers had the most intrusive and obnoxious product placement i've ever seen. the sequel looks even worse. |
