So a while back I was trying to rebuild a PC, and I had an X1300 lying around. For the life of me I just couldn't get the darn thing into the PC. I thought the case was warped.

So I take the mounting bracket off it, and do me best to stuff it into the slot. I finally manage to get it in there and no video. So I'm thinking what the heck is wrong with this thing. I screw around with it for a few hours, forcefully shoving it into the motherboard's only PCI-E slot, then I finally get pissed off and toss the card to the middle of the room and give up on the project.

Today I decided to rebuild a different PC and came across that videocard. So once again I do my best to maneuver this oddly sized card into the PCI-E slot on the motherboard and I keep shoving and shoving and I just can't get it in because this case is deformed too.

Then I realize it's an AGP card. Yup. I'm retarded. Amazingly enough after all I put that thing through it works just fine.

Oh, and when I was removing an old A64 processor from another of my old PCs my dog ran up behind me, knocked over the HSF with the processor still firmly attached by the thermal paste, and half the pins got bent. My dog is lucky I didn't actually want that PC.

No, but I used pliers and a hacksaw if that gives you any idea of how determined I was. I was sober when I did it too.

It should have been obvious to me that it was AGP. I dunno how I made the same mistake twice, and spent so much time determined to put it in the wrong slot. It boggles my mind. The minute I stopped trying to jam it into the wrong slot and actually took a good look at the card it dawned on me. I was like "ooohhhh.... so that's why it doesn't fit". It was a moment of divine revelation followed by a feeling of extreme shame.

I'm just stoked that it still works. lmfao. I'm gonna put WoW on it so my wife doesn't have to deal with WoW on her laptop. The X1300 should be fine. I damaged the bracket on the card, so it's just sitting in the slot right now. :P

I just spent a couple of minutes wondering why the hell my mouse cursor wouldn't go over to my second screen until I realised it was because I was using the mouse on my other laptop. I think I have heatstroke, my office is like a warm day on the sun. The air con can't cope at all and the fans are just blowing hot air around. I have stuck to my leather chair (they are horrible, hot in summer and cold in winter) and I very much want to be in a pub with an ice cold pint of lager right now.

I once destroyed an Athlon 1400 Thunderbird when I put the heat sink on the wrong way around. Crunch! Problem was I did want the PC it was a ****ing good chip at the time.

I still don't understand why they put that tiny bit of silicon on those chips without some decent protection. Unless it was to double their sales. LOL

Perhaps get a Sharpe and write APG on on the card to avoid future mishaps.

Same here.. with my AthlonXP 1800+ ..... wrong placement on the hsf.. and it died..

I still have an ancient soundcard from ages past somewhere. It came out of an old packard bell. I remember cracking open my first PC at the age of like.. 8. Had to upgrade to a 2400 baud modem for some uber BBS surfing.

I got called to a store for a repair of no post/no display, when I got there the store said they had upgraded the graphics card for the customer but could not get the PC to post with the new card in and couldn't get the new card out, when I had a look I could see the rear of the case had a slight bulge in it and it took a large amount of effort to get this card out.

The PC repair store had fitted an AGP card in a PCI-E slot, the young guy said "he thought it took a bit more effort than usuall to fit it" [thumbdown][thumbdown]

Wait.. they sent it out without it posting?

That's sad for a PC shop. At least my excuse is that it had been out of the box and lying around my house for a year.
