Default Mountain bike advice
I am wondering what kind of mountain bike to get. My main use of it will be riding to and from work each day which is 4 miles a day. 90% of this will be down a bridlepath which cuts between fields on each side and is surfaced loosely with patches of mud, large stones, grass and the odd brick. It has lots of potholes as well. I will also be using the bike recreationally which will include some road riding but mainly over grassy surfaces.

Obviously a road/hybrid is out but will I benefit from full suspension over hardtail? Are hydraulic brakes worth it? I know they are harder to service yourself (if at all) than mechanical discs. I've got up to £500 to spend for the right bike but if I can get one for around £300 all the better. I won't be doing anything hardcore with it so there is no point spending a fortune.
