she was a complete idiot. just shut up. and take it to the court if you dont agree...
|
I wonder how many here have the balls to taze themselfs.. Or their grandma's.
|
What's wrong is when idiots on a forum find that right that a cop tases a 72 year old lady that's driven a little too fast.
He should've given her the ticket and that's it. Being a **** and ending up tasing the lady is just pathetic. |

Yes, she was speeding, but she was always REFUSING to sign the ticket, which in the state of Texas and Im pretty sure the whole of the USA, if you do not SIGN the ticket, then " It never happened." So the officer must have her sign it and then she can plead her case in court. She flat out refused to sign it, or accept it and used vulgarity and idle threats. The tape doesnt show the whole conversation, but Id imagine he had had ENOUGH of trying to argue with someone. Sign the damn ticket and then argue the case in court. Hes standing on the side of the highway with drunk and beligerent( Its Austin, which is full of liberals, drunks, gang members and white trash,) people driving past him going 50-80 mph, its hot as $hit and its a simple traffic stop. Once she crossed the line he asked her to step out not only because she refused and its the LAW that she MUST sign the ticket, but also at the fact that if she is being so obstinate, its possible that she is hiding something. Not likely, but possible. Like I said, dont tell half turths and be omissive.I understand its an old lady, but age isnt an excuse for disobeying the law and being courteous to our men in uniform. |

he didn't do that because she was driving fast. if you bothered to listed she was an absolute idiot and being 72 is not an excuse for that. first she is putting her and his life in danger by walking towards the him and putting them on the road where people can hit them. then she is resisting the officer doing his job who is maybe wanting to write his ticket and getting over with the whole nightmare. being 72 is not an excuse for speeding and is worse as you have slower reflexes and worse sight etc. (in general). (if he lets her go and she hits a little kid @ a school crossing i wonder if you would be so sympathetic about her saying oh screw the little kid shes so old she should even be put in jail or she should be excused cos shes 72 or would u just blame the cop who lets her drive ? or the kid). so while some comments might be harsh here about ladies behavior, she is absolutely @ fault. laws do not apply differently to ppl. and age is not an excuse for being a moron. |
To be honest, anyone over the age of 70 should just be tazered as a rule of thumb.

So what do you think he should do.. just let her break the law because she's special? It's the old woman's fault for not just taking the damned ticket and making a big scene out of the whole thing. No matter what the cop did someone would find fault with it. He could have forced her to the ground and cuffed her and people would have cried about him physically abusing an old woman. He tried to do it the easy way. It was the old woman who wanted to do it the hard way. All she had to do was take the ticket like the majority of speeders do and then fight it in court. The opportunity was there to completely avoid the entire scene by just accepting the standard punishment for speeding. The fault is hers. I don't like cops. I've never met a good cop. But this situation was cut and dry. That senile old woman needs to be off the road, and she was at fault for the entire incident. He doesn't have all day to stand around arguing with some old woman who refuses to obey the law. |

TBH you people make me sick. First you keep calling this woman "senile" when you know **** all about her, apart from what's in that video. And secondly it is disgusting that you seem to think it's ok for a policeman to use a taser (a device known to have caused deaths) which is supposed to be a self-defence weapon just because he couldn't be bothered to do his job properly! I bet you'd all have a different opinion if it were you or a relative on the receiving end.

i don't agree with the overly rude comments either but that doesnt change the fact
if you are living in a civilized world you take things to court. i am not a huge fan of cops and their attitude, it is most often absolutely disgusting. (having lived in 3 different countries for over 6 years in each i can easily say police most often sucks with their attitude BUT). i get a speed ticket that i dont agree with. i sign the thing i pay the for the ticket. then show up at the court, mostly police officer doesn't even show up. you get your money put back into your CC. you don't get points etc. end of story. there is absolutely no reason for me to act like a moron telling the cop to arrest me then walk towards him putting us both in the middle of traffic and then when he says "sure i'll arrest you" turn around and act like a ding dong, oh i was just bluffing.... leave me alone. and then resist the arrest etc. sometimes ppl are expecting unrealistic kindness from police. would it be better if he twisted her arm ? or did something different ? or call for backup for a 72 yr old weirdo ? what would they do ? shoot her with a sedative dart ???? |

How would he have handled the situation if he didn't have a taser? Police here don't regularly carry them. |

You are ok with cops tasering old people, and your counterargument is "if he'd try to cuff her he'd risk breaking her in two"? Gimme a break. I think you really should get out of here. The lady even actually agreed to sign the damn ticket. |

And we call her senile because of her actions. If she's not senile, then she's just a douchebag, which is even worse. At least if she's senile it's part of becoming old. Being a douchebag is a choice. So let's pretend she's not senile. Then we have a woman flat out refusing to obey the law, and picking a fight with a cop, because she's a bitch. And if it was me, or a relative, I'd think it was justified to zap their ass. When I got my speeding ticket, which was completely bogus by the way as I wasn't speeding, he took me out of my car, into his, and checked everything he could about me and lectured me about my one single accident on my record making all sorts of wacky false assumption about how it happened. You know what I did? I obeyed him and didn't try to pick a fight. If I want to fight him the place to do it is in front of a judge not on the road. That woman was in the wrong. He defused the situation and neither of them suffered any injury. You can talk about taser death all you want, but the simple fact of the matter is that she did not suffer injury from it and the situation was defused without any harm. Perhaps he should have got his truncheon out and given her a whack with that too? How would he have handled the situation if he didn't have a taser? Police here don't regularly carry them. Forcefully restrain her and cuff her. Which, by the way, is uncomfortable and painful even for a fully grown man. What would YOU do if you were the cop? Do you have a better idea on how to deal with someone who refuses to obey the law? You complain about his way of handling it, but I have yet to see you present a scenario where everyone walks away happy. Gimme a break. I think you really should get out of here. The lady even actually agreed to sign the damn ticket. Then why didn't she just obey him and step back? Don't pretend she was compliant. Watch the video again, this time with your eyes open. She was clearly being defiant the whole way. He doesn't owe her any special treatment. She refused to sign it and then he was going to arrest her. She instigated the fight. The same would be done to anyone else. The entire thing could have been completely avoided if she had either A) Not broken the law, or B) Signed the damned ticket. If you break the law obey the police. They don't have time, nor should they waste the time, to play games with people who refuse to obey the law. Their job is to uphold the law, not play babysitter to some spoiled little child who thinks she doesn't have to obey the law. She's acting like a 4 year old child throwing a tantrum. He did try to subdue her by force. Like 40 seconds in or so. She yanked her arm away and stormed off saying she was getting back in her car. She's already proven she won't let herself be cuffed without a fight. If you think putting wrestling moves on a 72 year old woman is safer than shooting her with a taser you're nuts. She doesn't have to physically overpower him to injure herself. Tasers impede muscle control. Being wrestled to the ground is far more likely to cause injury than a taser is. Handcuffs cause more injuries per year than tasers do, especially when being applied to someone who is struggling. It's a perfectly good way to defuse a situation when someone refuses to obey the law. Also: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xzkd_m4ivmc Oh, and for the record, I've wrestled with (and been pinned by) a friend of mine from the army. I've been zapped a large number of times including a wall outlet and being struck by lightning. I'll pick a taser over being forced to the ground and cuffed any day. Do both and maybe you'll understand why. |
Have you been Tased before ?

i don't knows comment is making you laugh really. i'm not sure if you were laughing at my comment (i'm hoping not).
even tho i don't agree with police using excessive force, regardless of age group. on the other hand i am absolutely standing behind what i said. she should have signed it without arguing at all. then go to the court to appeal. all she has to do is keep her head low and show up at the court and say she doesn't agree with the speeding ticket. this is why there are laws. to make things easier to deal with, without even having to argue face to face with people. but back again to this ladies situation. please tell me how the police should have handled this in your opinion. seriously should they have used a sedative dart maybe ? and cover around her with feathers ??? so she wont hurt herself while falling ? u think she was willing to cooperate if the officer tried to grab her arm to arrest her ? there are procedures he HAS to go thru, like people having to have handcuffs regardless of crime etc at the back of the car etc etc. u think she would have said oh .. alright mr officer .. let me turn my back so u can put the cuffs, and would you be kind enough to lock my car ? and call my husband bla bla ? is this my seat? every person is responsible for their actions regardless of their age. speeding might not seem like a big deal .. oh shes 72 just a little bit over the limit what is the big deal ??? would ppl talking in this ladies defense say exactly the same things if the news was. "72 yr old speeding lady killed a 6 yr old crossing the street." there is a reason why there are laws, and WE do give away some of our freedom to these people, law makers and enforcements so we can be safer even at times that we don't feel any threat. |
