Default Japan's new first lady claims she was abducted by aliens
nothing really surprises me coming from Japan anymore. They have lost the ability to shock me. Sad, really.

We don't believe a fellow did.

We believe God did.

If you believe in God, it isn't a leap of faith at all to believe in miracles.

Well that certainly clears it up. It all makes sense now.

Ah, so your faith is reasonable but it's okay to point and laugh at faith of the japanese "lunatic"? What makes you right and she wrong?

She has faith in a lot of things which have a smaller number of people having faith in them. A few of the things have likely been shown to disagree with scientific observations (Although I can't say for sure because I haven't read all the things she believes in).

Everyone has faith in something. The belief in God is one of the most universal items of faith among humans.

What matters is if your beliefs are internally consistent. It is entirely possible to believe in the Christian God and hold the beliefs of science at the same time.

It is a lot easier if there is a smaller number of beliefs. I have no belief about Christ walking on water. I think He did, because I believe that He was the son of God, and walking on water is something that God could make happen.

Most people point to lack of consistency or beliefs that disagree with scientific theories as basis for thinking someone has odd beliefs.

That's a good question Wezil.

How do we know it was aliens? Did anyone else witness her kidnapping?

I give you the benefit of the doubt and consider you "performance art" (to borrow a phrase).

I realize that the belief in the existence of 'christian style' God is absurd to some people.

I admit that I don't understand why.

It has been my observation though that most (But not all) atheists don't understand the Christian myth.

JM
(To be honest, I would argue a fair few Christians don't either.)

This isn't about religion. Can't the atheists leave a damn thread to it's intent?
It's about the wife of the leader of a nation, whose whole function is dressing her evidently retarded husband; but then, she's also been abducted by aliens.
Is there not enough storyline here to keep the thread on track? Give the religious trolling a rest.
I won't single anyone out, but it's getting to be bullshit, and I don't appreciate it.

She looks frighteningly like a Japanese Sarah Palin in that picture.

Most of that sounds like one of those LDS-trips.

And eating the sun, it giving her enormous energy? How is that different from things like Feng-Shui, or such?

They're mystical people, uhhuh.

So if enough people believe the same thing it must be true? Does that mean the earth used to be flat (when that was the common belief) but now it isn't?
When was flat Earth the common belief and when did it become not so?

Frak me, she's more like Anne Heche than anything. She was part of the 宝塚歌劇団, which, if you may know, seems to have a rather large lesbian following...

Wait, so somehow the women playing both female and male roles = "lesbian overtones"? Does that mean the guys from Monty Python were gay icons?

Up until about 2500 years ago, flat Earth was the common belief. Then some smart Greek guys were like, no dudes, it's round.
How do you (or we) know that it was the common belief?
