Default iTunes not detecting iphone?
I just installed a fresh copy of XP64bit and unfortunately I don't have my installation CD that came with my iphone 3G. So i just downloaded itunes but it doesn't pick up the iphone 3G when it's connected. And I can't seem to find any software/drivers for the iphone itself.

what do I need to do?

Thanks

First port of call, just try a soft reset on the phone.

Hold the screenlock button down and the round button on the front together until the phone turns itself off.

Let me know . . . .

i think the problem is more to do with my computer. i tested the iphone on another machine, also with a fresh install of xp, and it picked up the iphone right away, installed itunes 8 and i was good to go.

but on this machine i get errors with both the iphone not being recognised, and also my webcam. it's weird. almost like some usb devices are not welcome.

also when i install normal itunes for windows, i get a message saying i should download x4bit itunes for optimal performance. but it installs anyway.

then when i download itunes 64bit to try that, it says the 64bit installation is only for vista64. so it wont work with xp64.
