Default Twitter? Yeah .. OooK
I have a sneaking suspition that the media types are trying to engineer the next big social networking thingie, don't you? I mean up until a month ago I'd never heard of it. I still don't know anyone (personally) who's even visted there or uses it but it seems to be cropping up in media alot.

So much so that you'd almost think that your the only one who doesn't know about it. Yet, I don't know anyone who knows about it really except in reference to the tv and newspaper types talking about it. Makes me think it's some massive push to try and get people to go there and use it.

What do you folks think?

I think it's just the media trying to pick up on the latest Fad.

Twitter holds no interest to me at all.

It seems to me like their trying to invent the new fad. I don't use my space or facebook but they seemed to gradually grow in popularity but the media seems to be almost selling this new on to you as if it's some big thing that it's not.

I've only heard about it from the media too. It sounds like it's just the status part of Facebook or blogging basically, so it doesn't interest me. I'm not into 'celebrities' like the retard masses seem to be and they are the only people i've heard about actually using Twitter so far.

Exactly. A couple months I never heard about Twitter, suddenly it's as if EVERYONE was using it.

This is the literal truth, at least in my area.

Not like Facebook, or MySpace which had a gradual user increase over the years. Twitter was just THERE suddenly as if someone went back in time and exploited the future for his or her personal gain.

Dang, if only I thought of the Twitter idea I'd be filthy rich. The media continues to uphold Twitter as the ultimate social networking tool, what do they gain out of it?

[url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evan_Williams_(blogger)]The owner of Twitter has a past history. It honestly wouldn't surprise me if he didn't use his contacts in Google to boost his businesses more prominently on the web. Pretty much everything he touches turns to gold dust and he sells out before he gets too much competition.

Its funny to me because I signed up to twitter a couple years ago just to get internet radio station playlists. Soma.fm posts updated playlists on twitter. No big deal i thought at the time. Didn't seem like anything significant. And then ever since the new year its being mentioned everywhere. I think its stupid. Its perfect for updated song lists from radio stations.

Wouldn't RSS already do that job?

then it sucks because unlike Twitter RSS is very usefull to save time and not get your inbox stuffed with newsletters

the Daily Show also has no RSS feed for the new episodes so I have to use the torrent one to find out when new episodes are on
