Very cool, good find. I think it like that ending better to be honest. It shows Neville realizing he forgot that they were still human.
this ending makes less sense, as 'they' appear to be now creatures with compassion, love and respect, where previously they were basically just zombies. |

He comments in the film on how they're starting to show elevated levels of behaviour and social structure. This can only be an offshoot of that.
This was a better ending, IMO. I HATED the way he's been in the City on his own for 4 years and in 1 night that stupid girl ruins EVERYTHING for him!!!!!!!!!!! [thumbdown] [thumbdown] [thumbdown] Hopefully the we'll get a DVD with this ending! ![]() |

Its completely possible though. Looking at his "patient" wall you can see that he had been collecting for a long time. Just so happens that this time he took the female of the alpha male. Its only logical that after seeing so many of his fellow "humans" be abducted by this guy that losing his female to Neville is the final straw. Ah my bad, I thought he said they were, what with things like the dogs being sent out and whatnot? I can understand about the alpha male and his mate though, I'd be peeved too! ![]() |

To fans of the movie i can only suggest reading the book (or listening to the audiobook, whatever you prefer). |

i just don't remember any human-like behaviour from the 'zombies' in the whole film. i'm ready to be corrected on this, but to me they seemed just animalistic in their almost purely instinctive behaviours. Dogs were effected by the virus and it seems that they tamed the dogs and trained them for their own use, which is very advanced! Granted they were very instinctive, but they weren't as socially devolved as Neville thought. edit - Good book /= Good movie. They can't make everything the same or it would bore the hell out of people. If people are bored they lose money. They take the key points and make it "Hollywood" You can't even really compare the two. You have to detach from the book and view the movie as its own story. Otherwise you'll just over analyze it and be disappointed that it wasn't the same (which it wasn't trying to be). Bond movies anyone? :P |

I don't like this ending one bit, don't tell me he live happily ever after with all those zombie [thumbdown] ![]() As for the comments about the book being better than the movie, I think you have to treat both as two separate entities. The movie was adapted to have more action (in the book, there were very long stretches of Neville doing mundane tasks throughout the day), and it was modernized to have parallels to today's society. Granted, it would be interesting to see Neville being executed by the refugees like it happened in the book (especially since Neville was ironically considered a monster due to his immunity), but I think the movie was more than decent enough without these additions. Other than the shoddy CGI (almost as bad as Van Helsing), I thought it was fairly solid. |
