So my Gateway laptop just died, and fortunately I was able to grab all of my information off of it at the last minute. I've been eying one of these bad boys for a while, so I finally grabbed one. Love it! [thumbup]

Nice, isn't that the hybrid-sli deal thing?

What was the specs on the old lappy? I may be interested in some parts perhaps.

The old boy was a 1.6ghz Core 2 Duo. I honestly think it was either the battery or the power supply that went bad, but either way It wouldn't charge. I use a Laptop for my businesses on a daily basis, so I couldn't be without one for any length of time.

Nice man, enjoy, I am very pleased with mine.

Where did you get that picture? It looks like the Air thickened up, since the surrounding area on the screen is aluminum and it has the same hinges.

How much was it?

Very nice, looks splendid that screen. However, what a huge waste of space with that big keyboard just for that crap touchpad which I always disable anyway. [thumbup]

That is the only real way to place a value on it from your perspective right, Goliath? [rofl]

Honestly though, I am going to reserve faith that you could have looked up the pricing on your own within half a minute but rather, you were fishing for someone to respond so that you could make a statement. I think it has been established time and time again (especially on these forums), from the raw spec perspective, Macs can be considered a "total ripoff".

What do you use if you disable the glass trackpad? What is it that you dislike? I truly am genuinely curious.

Fair enough, unarguably they could be considered more costly but then you think about the design of the product, the unibody, glass trackpad, LED back light, hybrid SLI GPU, magsafe charging cable, essentially all the little details they include, then the OS. I am not trying to argue one way or another but it isn't as black and white as 95+% of people on this forum will argue based on... well white paper specs.

Not only for the OS, also the materials (alu, LED backlight, glass touchpad, large battery) as well as size and weight.

edit: dam you mutelight, you beat me

I own a MSI Wind an iAudio 7 and a SE T250 yet I still don't think Apple products are overpriced.

The Dell Adamo is comparable to Apple products but has a crippled 16:9 display, weights more and is more prone to fingerprints because of the shiny black surfaces. You also pay a lot of money for it.

Thanks bud, that picture was a half assed attempt by me to find a smaller one in haste. The first one I posted was enormous

I absolutely love this thing. The keyboard is phenomenal, and the glass trackpad is the best I've ever used. How is gaming performance on the 9600M GT? I dont intend to game on this beast, but I'm sure i'll load up Starcraft II and Diablo 3 when they come out

I have only played games using the Source engine which runs well on pretty much anything but it had no problem running them fully maxed out. Honestly couldn't tell you how those games would run but I'd be surprised if it struggled with those games at 1440x900.

Congratulations on your new toy mate, I thought SLI normally used the same GPU's? Yours uses two different ones, interesting...

Either way hope you enjoy it, if you're up for some D2 until D3 comes up, give me a shout, a friend and I have just started act 2 on Hell mode!

I would try the beta of Safari 4 when you get a chance. It has started to replace firefox as my default browser (especially now you can get an adblocker for it).

But if you prefer Firefox make sure you get the latest beta (3.1) because the 3.0 doesn't support trackpad gestures.

Just downloaded Safari 4, and I really like it. It seems faster than Firefox, and I really like the popular mosaic. Thanks! [yes]
