I call them "stupid" because that's what they are. What kind of people complain to a TV station because one of its children's presenters has one arm? She gives the children "nightmares"? I think that says something about they way they're being brought up. "Forced to discuss disabilities at too early and age"? What the hell is that supposed to mean?

Saw her on the 'Beebies on Friday with my nephew, and knew there'd be some crazy backlash.
She was wearing the same outfit as in the picture the link, and both my sister and I found it a little odd she had the sleeve rolled up in such a way to highlight and draw attention to her arm. Whilst I'm for opening the eyes of children to the real world at a young age and not hiding things, surely the BBC screened/tested children's reaction to the lady? Time will tell if the people speaking out are a minority or if children are genuinely and generally upset by her disfigurement/disability [scraping for politically correct term]. Only 9 reported complaints so far suggest tabloid hackism to me at least. Mr Tumble however scares the crap out of me. |

any parent that has a problem with it is a complete moron. if they think that having a one armed girl on a tv show is armful to their children, I'd put forth their ignorance and idea of parenting is much more harmful.
that said, that article is ridiculously sensational. it said 9 people complained. that's hardly significant. |

I can understand how some young kids and be uncomfortable with someone missing a limb. Kids are frightened of all sorts of strange things, I used to be scared of a big stuffed monkey I had, as I used to think he stare at me at night while on my shelf and he'd come get me.
To ban the host from TV, that's just stupid. For the parents that have scared kids, don't let them watch the show. Simple really. I guess she wont be hosting Hi-5 anytime soon. |

So, I'd tell those parents to take a hike and leave it at that. |
