What else would you call it.? You obviously believe only "perfect" specimens of humanity should be seen in public and disabled people should be hidden away and be ashamed of their disabilities. [rolleyes]

Well it's probably a good job you're not in charge of the TV schedules otherwise we'd probably only have white, blond haired, able bodied people strutting about in Nazi uniforms on TV.
I guess I vote against the people who run public TV now, don't you think ?

And you are wrong in your thinking about me, just because I don't like to see a amputated ( or born without a right arm), you think I sa their bad.. No I don'. Just dont put them on AIR specially not for kids.

Kids shouldnt think one armed people are normal, as we are all born with two.

A pic of a normal woman with a nipple stumb. Go suck on it. My kids refuse.

I don't think kids should be brought up to believe bigotry is normal. You haven't given one good reason why this lady should not be on TV, apart from your own prejudice (she's not "normal" etc.).

Children also shouldn't have their parents prejudices forced onto them either, they should have the chance to grow up and make their own minds up about people.

What your doing is showing your children that being disabled is wrong or that its not normal in some way and that they should maybe be scared of disabled people.

Lets just hope that "karma" doesn't decide to strike and you or one of your family doesn't become disabled in the future due to accident or some other way, then you'll see what its like to be ridiculed by the same bigots, like the one your coming across as.

Ha, woman missing an arm and she don't even cover it properly, she shows it like nothing is wrong. [rofl]

Guess what, 2arms and 2 legs are normal.. same as what al comes to it. If you miss something you are abnormal, accept that fact!
**** me.... if anyone on this forum were to be involved in an accident that results in the loss of their limbs, I sincerely hope its you.

Actually....that's really mean of me. A terminal illness would be much more befitting a giant **** such as yourself.

Kids shouldnt think one armed people are normal, as we are all born with two.
So what should kids think about people like her who are, as you put it, "abnormal"?

What should children think about people that are born without the use of their legs?

What should children think about people with Cerebral Palsy or Muscular Dystrophy?

What should children think about people who are black?

What should children think about people who aren't as pretty as others?

I'm really kind of looking froward to an answer. I can understand your argument that the presenter is not average (the whole concept of normal is a stretch anyway) but I don't see the reason to make this an issue unless you feel that children should be taught to treat people who are not average in different ways.

Children are well aware of the differences between themselves and others. I've worked as a special educator with children for a while, and I can certainly tell you that they do know what's average and what's not, but it isn't a big deal to them, because they can still see the underlying similarities between themselves and others. They're fully aware that Nick is in a wheelchair, and that Sally is unable to talk or feed herself but it doesn't matter, the kids still always find a way for them to be included in the group and I think that's a more important lesson to be learned than to teach kids that some people "aren't normal."

This has gone way out of hand... you folks need to cut it out. I've never heard so many crippling posts in my life. I am going to have to sever my contact with this thread, because any more of this and I think I am going to start pointing fingers at some of you disconnected individuals!

I think cubase has pretty much covered everything here. So the next person who says they're stumped is going to get their arm pulled off and beaten with the wet end.
