I've forgotten, Waters, who pays the funding for the service and what is the OFFICIAL terms of reference for the work it is supposed to be doing?
Seems to me that if it was providing one service for over fifteen years and has the new manager suddenly changing the policy, then the fund priovider should be aware/made aware of this, as it seems to be against their initial aims.

Oh yeah, let's put up a sign: 'Families and happy, clean people only please.'
If they think working with families is going to be any easier or more productive they're in for a shock. I've worked in Title 1 (read poverty, neglect, and abuse) schools for the past 4 or so years and have experienced most of what I imagine you do (although, mostly with 3rd to 8th graders) and I can say for a fact that with families it only get more and more complicated.

I eventually got pushed out of my job due to a change in management and our differing opinions (we'd worked as coworkers for the prior 2 years) but it's nice knowing that you at least helped a little to facilitate a change in someone's life.

I am curious too, wonder how things go at his work, if he still does it.

He wasn't treated the way he shouldn't be, that's for sure.

I killed waters a while back. 'Twas a love affair gone south. I couldn't stand him being with another person (let alone a woman), so I stuffed him and put him in my basement for posterity's sake. In a buddy christ pose, nonetheless.

That is exactly how I imagined he would go.

Oh, I haven't gone anywhere. Still having my wacky adventures. I must be older, though. Every time I think, Gee, now would be a good time to check out the Onion boards, I instead say to myself, "Actually, this is a great time to try and get some sleep so I'm not a zombie tomorrow."

Work is a real challenge right now. The newly formed five-person management "team" could not be more fragmented. Consequently, it's been difficult for me to determine where to take my new program when no more than two members of the team can agree on a single direction at any given time. Two of the five members are my two closest friends, however, they are not friends themselves, so each of them tells me stuff about the other in private or outside of work. The third member is gutting my old program and banning most of my clients (only the chronically homeless, active drug users) who then come running over to my building and begging of me, "Please do something to make her let us back in. You always told us we were welcome there." The fourth member couldn't cope with the stress of it all and ended up having a heart attack at the last management meeting. I don't know if we'll see her back again. The fifth member is the new ED, the boss of us all. She's 25 years old, has an MA, and has a background in waitressing. She is apparently getting along quite well with the lady who took over my job, and is pushing forward the idea that we will no longer be serving the chronically homeless, active drug users because our company "should be serving families instead." We've been serving the chronically homeless, drug addicts for 16 years. There are 300 of them banging down our door each day. The sidewalks are lined with dirty needles, condoms, garbage, and human waste. There's active drug use, gunshots, beatings and dealing up and down our street 24 hours a day. Oh yeah, let's put up a sign: 'Families and happy, clean people only please.'

I don't know how this is all going to play out, but it's weighing on me daily. My only relief is battling to the death in my hockey pool, and playing the odd computer game.

I still do read what's going on here. Yes, I'm still watching you all!
