Default What's a "high speed" HDMI cable?
I've just taken delivery of a new BD player and somewhere (I can't find it now) in the manual it mentions something about a "high speed" HDMI cable. What exactly is the difference between this and any old HDMI cable? I'm just using one I got from a seller on Amazon Marketplace.

Actually there are different kinds of hdmi cables, you'll need one of these monster cables to actually see FULL High Def.

Yeah, and they are gold-plated so they will not oxidize and degrade that digital signal.

All that expensive **** is just marketing.
A 3 euro cable does the same job for me and also displays full hd with my sharp blu ray player and 46"lcd...

i do believe in not buying the cheapest cable possible, but at the same time it is a cable, so theres little point spending more than a few quid.

That, my friends, is a HIGH SPEED HDMI cable. It causes money to leave your wallet so fast it'll leave your head spinning.

They did a test (admittedly not very scientific) the other week on The Gadget Show where they had two TVs side by side, one hooked up with a cheap HDMI cable and the other with an expensive one to see if they could see a difference - they couldn't, at least that's what they said.
