I wouldn't even bother with that.

I would learn from this and get the glass replaced,he may loose a no claim's bonus through a "no fault" claim and its not worth doing that for a 200 quid item and his own Naivety/
stupidity

I don't leave anything in my car.

As you left it in your car, I have to ask other questions too!
Did you set your HOME to your home address? Did you put your name on it anywhere (owner information)? Did you set a PIN on your TOMTOM?

If yes to any of those except the last one....uh-oh!

This is why I'm just waiting for GPS to be built standard into a car. I don't have much trouble navigating without a map so I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything. It would be nice sometimes, so I guess once it's standard when I get a new car next time then I wont have to worry about someone pinching it. http://discussworldissues.com/forums...s/biggrin1.gif

Yeah, I wouldnt use anything else but a built in navi. Currently car manufacturers take about 2000€ for them which is ridiculous, but they should come down in price pretty soon. My next car will definately have one, even though I never use them.

after having my car broken into twice, i no longer by anything for them.

sucks really.

First place thieves look!
Not always, I had my car broken into a month ago here in Madrid and the idiots looked everywhere...except under the seat...where the front of my radio was [thumbup]

And don't tell me it was one of these that attaches to the windscreen??

Because the biggest clue that a car has a Sat-nav is the telltale suction mark on the windscreen.

See a car with that, and a thieves first thought is to pan the window to check in the glovebox or under the seat.
Too true!! in fact that's precisely the reason why they broke into my car. I left the GPS support attached to the windscreen; thing is, my GPS happens to be my phone too so I don't leave it in the car http://discussworldissues.com/forums...ies/laugh1.gif

The idiots went straight for a plastic bag I had in the glovebox as it was full of different sorts of cables and they thought the GPS was in there ... mwahahahhaha I would have loved to see their faces when they checked it fully [rofl]

They stole my sunglasses and broke the door, but's ok, all covered by the insurancehttp://discussworldissues.com/forums...ies/smile1.gif

Car broken into can you track a tomtom?

I know this probably isnt possible since its a GPS unit but I thought Id ask anyway, is it possible for a TOMTOM to be tracked?

For example when they maybe update the software on the unit or connect it to the internet?

It was stolen this afternoon when my car was broken into, I always put the tomtom under my seat out of view...

They took the holder, cig adapter and the tomtom unit...

Ive reported it to the police and they are coming to visit shortly (although I didnt think they did this ?) , told them the rock that they used to break in was still there...

Sigh another £250 down the drain

Is it possible to track it?

Thanks!

£250+ (in your case) easy money. http://discussworldissues.com/forums...ilies/sad1.gif

it might be, but im sure theres a way of adding friends tomtom's as locations so you can find them wherever they are.

Thats done via the PLUS service, which uses your mobile via bluetooth.
The TomTom is incapable of sending anything on its own.

If not, try your HomeOwner's/Renter's insurance.

Typically, stuff that is attached to your car is covered by car insurance (stereo, GPS, speakers) and stuff that is NOT attached to your car (but in it) are covered by Homeowner's (CDs, sub-woofers, etc.)
