My mom's husband drives the 9³ Station waggon with the 2.0l Turbo Diesel. Nice engine, but you can smell "GM" thoughout the whole interior. I like the design of the Saab, but this isnt like Volvo and Ford. GM really did cut down the quality on all Saab models. The stiff chassis and the firm 6 gear drive (if this one has it, the 5 gear drive is aweful) make it a fun vehicle though.
Here's the run down and I agree with what you say to be honest... however, it's a 5 star encap and thus with little un' on the way think that comes first for me... then speed :-)

"One former keeper from new with Full Service History and 9 Months M.O.T The vehicle has a 2.0 Litre Turbo (1985cc) Engine 210 BHP which returns an amazing 33.2 MPG, 6 Speed Manual Gearbox excellent spec inc: Electric Windows, Electric Mirrors, Electric Memory Seats, Power Assisted Steering, Air Conditioning, Cruise Control, Rear Parking Sensors, SRS Drivers/Passenger/Side & Roof Air Bags, ABS, Central locking (with Remote Key Fob), Multi-Functional Adjustable Steering Wheel, All Round Headrests, AM/FM Stereo with CD Player, and a set of original Saab Alloys Wheels in excellent condition, tyres again all in excellent condition with 1000?s miles of tread left on them the spare is brand new and never been on the vehicle, it also has a very discreet original Saab factory fitted body styling kit which makes the car look great. The vehicle is finished in gleaming unmarked Black with half cream leather interior in excellent condition with no marks or rips, the carpets and over mats are also in excellent condition throughout. It?s really got a great presence on the road and has to be one of the finest examples around at this money, a trial and inspection is highly recommended, HPI clear, report on request"

if you are getting Saab 9-3 and want a quick car get it with the 2.8 V6 Turbo engine.... it's just so much better all around than the I-4... superb torgue all the way.

And still I guess you didn't read my link in the other thread about the VXR...

No, haven't been back to the thread I'll have a shufty. Well, no, went for the 2ltr Turbo, still 210bhp, so that'll do as my 2nd car now me thinks... without being daft. Them 2.8 turbo's are rare as a teenage virgin now... I've seen a couple, but the fuel costs are too much I think... but yeah, I agree, meant to be a superb car.

However, in the end I went for my SAAB and I pick him up tomorrow... so here he is, just bought an indash 7" widescreen DVD/GPS system for it that I'll get fitted this week...

It's a bit obvious don't you think? You said you required a family car and an RX8 is hardly family friendly. Not too sure about the Alfa, although out of the 3 you initially said, I would've said Alfa as it seems more family orientated.

Plus, it seems like you're more interested in the power of the car rather than practicality.
