I've landed up getting 80 hours community service. I have been to my introduction for health and safety and in that they told me i HAVE to wear THERE safety boots, "they are second hand boots and usued by everyone else every day" I said to him what about wearing my own boots, the guy said no because im not insured to wear my own boots.
Thing is boots are either safety boots or they are not safety boots, theres no classification, i can walk into any warehouse ETC in the UK with my own safety boots. Im really not feeling good about having to put on boots that other scum bags have worn with manky feet, blisters etc etc. im worried that if i refuse to wear there boots they will breach me and send me to prison ![]() Any ideas how i can sort this out? |

Tell them you have podophobia (fear of feet), and if they try and make you wear them they'll be in breach of your human rights and you'll sue them, seems like every other day there's some story of some nutter doing similar things so why not jump on the wagon.
I couldn't give a monkeys what my crime was you wouldn't get me wearing anyone elses boots, thats minging, I'm not a podophobe i just don't like feet and the idea of wearing someone else's footwear, Yuk |

?! Whoa i hope they give you a year or 2 [rolleyes] Anyway my point is, i do have my own steal toe boots. Theres no varying elvels of boots, as i said there either steal toe capped boots or not so how the hell they can say ther enot insured unless i put on boots that belong to them is beyond me. |

Sounds like they're being bottom-openings.
It's normal for steel cap boots to be required and I would have thought they'd appreciate you providing your own. I expect they get a few idiots, though, that got snotty about their non-capped boots not being acceptable. Come to think on it, it may be to avoid those idiots that they may have introduced a policy of only THEIR boots being acceptable. Not sure what I'd do in that position as I also have a dislike/phobia about wearing other peoples' clothing/footwear etc - regardless of how 'clean' it is. |

it was obviously an exaggeration.. yeah thanks for wishing 2 years upon me because i don't want to put on filthy boots when i have my own. I have to wear boots at work admittedly they were Issued to me, but I'm not allowed to wear my own because the Issue boots were trialled and shown to be up to health and safety standards for my line of work. and If I was to have an accident at work wearing my own boots I will not be covered by the "companies" insurance Policy. and there are varying levels of foot protective boots ![]() well if you want to go to prison its upto you but Id rather have on my criminal record "80hrs CS" instead of "Banged up" |

the government can be very finicky with H&S and you may find that they had to Trial those boots. this si first time ive been envolved with polcie really, well i had a caution but thats years ago, this is first conviction ive had, and to be honest after going to trial and that i cansee why this country is so messed up. Another point. What if MY boots was the exactly same type as theres! |
