The way I see it, most "men" within the fashion industry today would probably say that they're one and the same.
So George Clooney isn't a real man ?

Ignoring the rest of the "fashion" thread here, I'll say Etnies, Vans, New Balance, Converse, Nike, etc etc. Dr. Sholls. =D

Skate shoes are what goes 'round here.

If that's not a real man I don't know who is.

The notion that gay men have better fashion sense than straight men is insulting.

The notion that gay men have better fashion sense than straight men is insulting. the notion that you are citing George Clooney as a real man just proves your gayness. The shoes to die for was the first sign, George Clooney picture and the word "real man" was the second. Next you're going to be talking about Sarah Jessica Parker's shoe closet on Sex in the City[rofl] which would serve to prove your penultimate gayness.

my main shoe collection has mostly been the same since i was in high school. 1 pair of Adidas running shoes. 1 pair of brown wingtips (usually Clark's or Bostonian) 1 pair of LL bean Bucks. 1 pair of high quality mid/heavy hiking boots (Asolo, Raichle, Merril) 1 pair of Clark's desert boots. my main casual walkaround shoe has always been a good pair of hiking boots.

I live in combat-trousers (I don't own any jeans) - and I also have a ton of Abercrombie polo shirts. the UK.
I always wear khaki slacks
same here. I don't own a single pair of blue jeans, haven't for years. I wear classic british khaki probably 75% of the time (jcrew, gap, ralph lauren, llbean, eddie bauer a&f, ect). If i need something more formal, I just wear a more formal style of khaki's[thumbup] I also wear combat trouser/cargo's- no camo though, just khaki or olive drab. I do have a pair or two of khaki colored jeans though

for shirts it's pretty much the same game. I wear mostly solid color 100% cotton twill button downs same brands as above usually just green and blue then in hot weather i have some solid color knit polos and izods, and always a big supply of solid color pigment dyed heavy tees.

Nikes, Adidas et al. are fine for the gym but look slightly ridiculous as streetwear IMO.
agreed, but it depends on the context and personal style. I don't wear tennis shoes around town, but it looks fine on some people so long as they aren't over the top basketball shoes with huge tongues and laces untied[rolleyes] I always thought a pair of sambas or trainers look pretty cool, but it's just not my bag..... baby.

Default What are popular US clothing brands?
Anyone know what are the best-selling/most sought after brands in the US with regards to leisure wear/trainers.

I was always told Nike are seen as rather cheap and crap being so common, yet over here you can pay in excess of $200 for a non special edition pair.

I'm just trying to find some brands I may not have heard of to have a look at their range.

Cheers.

Are you looking for athletic clothing/shoes for the purpose of physical activity or do you want to dress like a Guido?

If you are looking for top quality running shoes, then Asics, Saucony, Mizuno and New Balance are probably the way to go. Saucony fits me best. Insofar as technical clothing is concerned, Under Armour is very popular but wildly overpriced. Lululemon is also very popular and pricy. Both of the aforementioned are top quality, at least. Stuff like Nike, Adidas, etc. is slightly worse quality and cheaper, but not too much worse where performance is concerned.

If you want to look like a "cool dude" then Adidas, Nike, Kappa, Puma, etc. is what you would pick both in terms of shoes and clothing. A lot of people here wear Nike Shox but I find them basically intolerable. They are curiously rigid and poorly cushioned for supposedly being "Shox" and not properly designed to give your feet the correct support/stability for running.

Ahahaha. Poor puzzle. **** was so cash.

Nike and Adidas (when it comes to shoes). As for other clothing it really matters. Hollister and stuff is good for white kids. Really depend on your crowd (and sometimes skin color) as to what you should wear if you're just trying to be a pimp. I'm happy with my walmart clothes. I wear them when I go fishing, and hunting, and oh hey BRB my sister is coming over.

So basically all the same stuff we have over here, I was hoping for "Momma's Big shoes' & 'Super Forest Trans am boots' and the like.

And I'm not sure what a Guido is but if it's someone who mixes sports with casual then yes that's me.

Thanks.
