yes, if you're Jerry Seinfeld.
I don't know a single person who doesn't wear at least one sort of Jeans/trainer combo and none of them are remotely like Seinfeld or Jeremy Clarkson. I suppose it's how you wear them.

Nice pair of navy pre faded jeans with crisp new white tennis shoes = win win win.

Every time I go to the States I always come back with a ton of Abercrombie stuff. None of their "surf-dude" **** though.

I live in combat-trousers (I don't own any jeans) - and I also have a ton of Abercrombie polo shirts. All my shirts for work (smart office based job), are Abercrombie shirts - the quality I find is really pretty good. Price wise (especially with the strength of the euro) its a lot cheaper than buying stuff of the same quality level here in Holland, or the UK.

I already speculated that he would wear off green cords, with a brown tweed sports jacket, a pair of shiny black loafers and a medallion.

I would imagine he dresses a lot like his avatar...

How comfortable are they? I really like the style, but they seem like they wouldn't be as comfortable as a pair of trainers (not to mention they probably cost as much as 3 pairs [surrender]).

Nikes, Adidas et al. are fine for the gym but look slightly ridiculous as streetwear IMO.
Uhhh... I think a very large portion of the college population wears these shoes daily:

Hardly ridiculous...

Everywhere I go it seems either jeans or cargo pants, a tee shirt and some sort of training shoes (nike, adidas, puma etc.) Wearing training shoes and jeans is wild popular I can't imagine how you think it isn't.

Popular clothing...well I'd say it depends on who you talk to. My favorite brand is Columbia for casual sportswear. That reminds me that I should probably pick up a few polos for work and weekends. I really don't want to wear button downs every day if I don't have to.
For sneakers, I like New Balance and Merrell. I wear my Merrells everywhere, except work. I've pretty much designated my pair of New Balance for mowing the lawn because I love my Merrells that much. The most comfortable things I've ever put my feet into, bar none.

That is the problem with shoes. If you simply post a picture of them it is very hard to tell how they would look with your clothes without actually having a pair with you. Looking at that first picture I would say no chance in hell would I buy them.

Though, I am assuming the following pictures are the same type, when you see them in the two following pictures where you can actually see them in action so to speak they do look damn good.

Clothing is and always will be a matter of opinion. There doesn't have to be a solid reason behind why somebody doesn't like a certain item of clothing. Personally I hate jeans. The only reason I wear them at all is because of work where I need clothing that is cheap and not too expensive.

Converse Chuck Taylors look good under anything.

I currently have a Limited Edition Chuck Taylors designed by John Varvatos

Nike Air Monarch... the only damned shoe I could find in a 4E. On the bright side they were on sale, plus another sale of buy one get one 50% off. So I got 2 pair. Took about 3 months before they were comfortable. I'm sure they'll bust open at the sides like every other pair of shoes I've ever owned.

A pair of Santoni would look good on you if you were naked and wearing a clown hat.

i just shop at kohls. get some nice fitting and soft collared shirts of various colors and brands. match them up with shorts, knee length khaki, black, brown and dark green colored with some van shoes, brown or black or adidas sandals i just got for summer.

hardly popular, but very comfy.
