not at all considering 45-55% of your deck will be swamps.
basically the strat is to have pestilence clear up the table whenever theres a creature. corrupt is your main dmg + life gain. (you have duress/ostracize to check your opponents hand to take off heavy creatures or powerful spells)
I rarely lost whenever I use it, stopped using it though as its way too cheap [rofl]
Really? I never had good luck with pestilence as I don't usually play with large creatures, but my Skirge deck kills in 4 rounds. Doesn't pestilence go to the graveyard if there're no creatures in play?

First round: Swamp, Dark Ritual, 3/1 Flier
Second round: Swamp, Dark Ritual, 3/1 Flier, 2/2 Flier, Attack for 3
Third round: Swamp, 3/1 Flier OR 2/2 Flier OR 3/2 Flier, Attack for 10
Fourth round: Swamp, more fliers, Attack for win

WOOO HOOO! I just played in my first extended tournament and won!

Just red burn and fast creatures. The MVP's are as follows:

Mmm, feel the burn, baby! The last guy I beat was ranked like #2 in the state or something. He tromped me earlier with some crazy storm combo, but in the last round I interrupted his big combo and killed him while he was tapped out.

Good going, Ruz, you can rarely go wrong with DD. But the recent cards' cost/damage ratio leaves a nasty taste my in mouth. I guess I'm too used to 1 mana for 2 damage or 2 mana for 3 damage.

There's plenty of both. Lava Dart is an older card, and deceptively good, don't let it's low damage ratio fool you! I won three games with it tonight!
Opponent brain freeze's my entire library into my graveyard... I sacrifice four mountains and flashback four lava darts for the win. [thumbup]
Imagine what it'd do to your 3/1 flying imps.

2 damage for 1 mana you have Shock and Seal of Fire, and even better, Rift Bolt which can deal 3 for 1.
3 damage for 2 mana, you have Volcanic Hammer mostly, which sucks, but Incinerate is coming back in tenth edition!

You just discovered my deck's fatal weakness. I don't think I've ever won my friend's pure red DD deck.

The Flashback cost seems a bit steep for me, but it should be very good as a contingency if your hand is really crap. Nothing is worse than having cards in your hand that you can't play or having no cards to play.

“I keep hearing things like "Pernicious Deed is unfair when all your creatures”
We play casual multiplayer so there are a lots of house rules to keep the game fun and balanced. Some cards just don’t work in multiplayer or are overpowered so we change them. Like the one that untaps all your creature and mana every players turn. In an elf deck you just tap all you elfs every players turn and gain 1000’s of life before your next turn or worse if you have xx mana damage to a player. We changed it so it only untaps on players to your left and right not every player. Other silly combos like 20cards in your graveyard and you win have a ban. Its way to easy to win like that in multiplayer.

How does the Pernicious Deed combo work? Why is it so bad with regen creatures?

Imagine a Wrath of God or Damnation that works on Enchantments and Artifacts as well as Creatures but the permanents can regenerate.

Don’t sound to bad to me. Multiple ways to be ok. Phasing, counter spell, regen, indestrutable perhaps others if I think about it. Sounds to me like Rastlin is just better at building decks then his friends. Not that he is using an overpowered combo. I assume you need mena per regen creature and a fair bit to cast the spell.

“What storm decks are you having trouble with? Dstorm, Ignite, or Warrens?”
Is there a place to read up on all those? As I just play in my group we have our own terms. No one around here goes to tournaments so we don’t have names like Dstorm, Ignite, or Warrens.

Pernicious deed is a really good card.

http://sales.starcitygames.com/cards...nicious%20Deed

you add Spiritmonger

http://sales.starcitygames.com/cards...h=Spiritmonger

and Avatar of Woe

http://www.wizards.com/magic/autocar...tar%20of%20Woe

and Kokusho

http://www.playables.com/catalog/pro...ducts_id=15008

And suddenly "it's not fair" It's not like an amazing deck design, it's just set up so that Deed makes my stuff better, and their stuff gone. It's just a crummy Rock Variant that I should at some point take the time to make better, most of my casual decks are that way, just designed to do big fun things, because I don't take those games seriously, people would really hate me if I played casual games the way I play tournament games.

Well the deck names are the same as the card names but he's how you play them:
Dragonstorm
R/U
4 bogardan hellikite, 2 hunted dragon as your kill (play dstorm to get them out [4 hellikites coming into play = 20 damage])
Put dstorm into play by using red mana accel like rite and seething song.
Use blue to gigadrowse the opponent at the end of their turn so they cannot disrupt you. Also slight of hand to search.

Ignite Memories and Empty the Warrens decks play almost the same way, but are not as popular. Search TSPS for more info about those decks. I'd suggest looking on www.magic-league.com . That's usually where the new comes appear and the old decks fade out.

Anyone else go to regionals? I went up to San Jose and tied for 22nd [thumbdown]

1st game(Korlash Control): ran out of time
2nd game(Bridge Dredge): win
3rd game(Rouge G/R): lose (This guy ended up taking 2nd overall. Incidentally this guy was running a deck that punished life gain and had swamp walking creatures. What was I playing? A life gaining black deck. Amazing deck though.)
4th game(Teferi): win
5th game(B/W aggro): ran out of time
6th game(G/W/u wish): ran out of time
7th game(G/R Gruul): win
8th game(Bridge Dredge): win
[cursing]
If they increased rounds from 60mins to 90 I probably would have topped eight. I was winning all the matches that ran out of time on and thus tied. Next year, I'm bringing a faster deck.

Hey guys, a question for the UK peeps, where do you get your decks from? is there a particular online store you use or do you just go locally? Im looking to get some themed decks just to get my collection started again and clearly the starter deck that I got is beyond useless.

Cheers

www.psi-soft.co.uk is the main website I use.
http://www.manaleak.com/ give you free cards but I had a lot of faulty orders of them and so have my friends. They often have things listed as in stock when its not.

Keep an eye on Ebay. Sometimes great olders decks show up.

I used to play the paper game up until everyone I used to play with moved / vanished / lost touch with. The problem with that game was that you NEEDED another player(s) in order to enjoy it.

My problem was later solved when Wizards introduced Magic the Gathering Online. I have been playing that for about 4~ years now and am looking forward to version 3, due sometime next month. With MtGO I can play when I like and always find people on who want to play as well.
