LOL, I like Dane Cook. His routine about relationships is top notch. Now some of his acting isnt the best. "I am the Waffler!!!!!!" Classic.

RIP Heath.

It's showing as 'post-production' on imdb so looks like it. This film will probably be twice as successful now!
Who is he? And what role is/was he playing in Dark Knight?

He was playing The Joker.

Even if he hadn't finished his scenes it wouldn't be the first time a movie had been completed despite one of the actors dying mid-production.

Oh right & I can't tell from the pic who he is.

Did a quick google... I don't think I've watched any of his films.

Yeah... Brandon Lee in The Crow... shot on the table in the gang's lair... they even used the shot where he got killed :-O Probably why it turned into such a cult movie.

Interview from last November;

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/11/04/mo...=1&oref=slogin

He tends to do that. He is here in London filming the latest episode of the “Batman” franchise, “The Dark Knight.” (Mr. Bale, as it happens, plays Batman; Mr. Ledger plays the Joker.) It is a physically and mentally draining role — his Joker is a “psychopathic, mass-murdering, schizophrenic clown with zero empathy” he said cheerfully — and, as often happens when he throws himself into a part, he is not sleeping much.

“Last week I probably slept an average of two hours a night,” he said. “I couldn’t stop thinking. My body was exhausted, and my mind was still going.” One night he took an Ambien, which failed to work. He took a second one and fell into a stupor, only to wake up an hour later, his mind still racing.

Even as he spoke, Mr. Ledger was hard-pressed to keep still. He got up and poured more coffee. He stepped outside into the courtyard and smoked a cigarette. He shook his hair out from under its hood, put a rubber band around it, took out the rubber band, put on a hat, took off the hat, put the hood back up. He went outside and had another cigarette. Polite and charming, he nonetheless gave off the sense that the last thing he wanted to do was delve deep into himself for public consumption. “It can be a little distressing to have to overintellectualize yourself,” is how he put it, a little apologetically. Ambien is a type of sleeping pill by the way.

Sounds like he may have been on edge for quite some time, shame no-one got to him in time. [no]

That's an urban legend, although Lee died on set the footage was never released to the public or on the film.

that's the most absurd thing i've ever heard. You wish Dane Cook was dead instead of Heath Ledger because Ledger was a better actor than Cook is and you don't like Cook's comedy?
Yeah sure just like I wish Robert Mugabe was dead rather than Mother Teresa.

Might have wanted to do some re-shoots though. Lets hope the movie is as fantastic as expected so he goes out on a high!

edit - Oops, no pun intended :S

Maybe they will now change the voice in the trailer to say "nothing in his pockets but knives and pills"

It's more then a legend, it's completely false. The entire scene that he was died in was rewritten and redone- nothing of the original appears anywhere on film/dvd.

I just saw it on MSN a little while ago. That really sucks...another good actor down the tubes [thumbdown] It's a shame....

I think Dane Cook is HILARIOUS. I don't care for his acting but I love his stand-up.

Did something happen out in L.A. that some of you guys would be THAT excited to see him die?? It sounds kind of rediculous...is there something I'm missing?

No, we're just wishing other people died instead of Ledger.

My choice would be Dane Cook.
All this talk about Dane Cook made me have to do a quick google search to find out who the hell this guy is. Never heard of him and watching some video clips of his stand-up comedy, well, makes me glad for that.[thumbdown]

Heath was a hell of an actor and damn sad he's gone. Kind of brings back the disappointment I had when River Phoenix passed away. Awesome, Awesome talent gone waaaaaay to young!

I can't wait to see his performance in the Dark Knight.

Heath was always like that during interviews. When he was on Leno years ago for Monster's Ball, he kept crossing his legs and playing with his hair. It really seemed like he felt uncomfortable in front of a camera when he wasn't acting.

BTW, don't forget about Owen Wilson's near-death attempt a few months ago.
