What about the stuff in britain? made in the same place? Currently there are so many Independent producers that its impossible to know exactly how its made, Coca cola throughout the world will taste different because many bottlers will add more sugars and sweeteners than others may like too. The better or sweeter it tastes the more unhealthy it is for you to consume even in somewhat medium amounts Coca cola isnt the most unhealthy soft drink though, some cheaper variants going by the name "cola" or "spring cola" could be a lot unhealthier for you. I may only consume a glass of coca cola when i eat a large meal, otherwise i always consume water from the filter we had installed in our sink years ago. |

the recipe is different. my brother in-law is pretty high up at one of the pepsi plants here in michigan, and i asked him why a can tastes better then a plastic bottle, and i dont remember the exact differences, but im pretty sure it had to do with type and/or amount of sugar.
for soda its definately Glass>can>plastic>large plastic (2 liter) plastic bottles need to be much colder imo, and cans feel colder from the same fridge, and glass is just wonderful, but too bad i cant get mountain dew in glass anymore ![]() |

Coca-Cola from a bottle is fantastic. When I owned a Sam's Club card I would get 24 bottles for $15. A mighty damned fine deal.
Like others have said, I feel that the difference is probably the same as why beer tastes better out of a glass than a can. The scientific reason why that is? I don't know. [xmasblush] |

kinda like how after years of drinking Guinness extra stout, draught tastes like watered-down flavorless beer. i've had the can version and it was missing most of the head which imo is one of the most important bits about it. as said above i prefer coke zero, diet coke has always had a funny taste because of the sweeteners but zero for some reason tastes much more authentic. |

Coke out of a glass bottle seems to taste alot better than out of a can or a plastic bottle. Why is that? Is it made with different ingredients? Does the glass give it a different flavor or does a tin can or plastic bottle taint the original flavor? Or is it all in my mind? |

The bottles are less reactive that the cans, wich are in turn less reactive than the bottles. But that's not the whole story. Since all material is somewhat porus the CO2 leaches through the container at a faster rate for the plastic and to a lesser extent, the aluminum (not much though). The plastic bottles are run of the filler with more carbonation to compensate, but the stuff sits for so long in a warehouse that it's kind of a crapshoot. You could expect a six week delay from the time it was bottled to when you bought the product, at least where I used to work at a filler operator. I still maintain the best tasting any soda ever gets is right off the filler, before it goes to the capper or seamer, at about 40 deg F. Sodas are run cold (idealy about 40 degrees) and under pressure (usually about 100 PSI on the Microblends I used to run) to help prevent foaming.
