Pan's Labyrinth. 3:10 to Yuma if you like that kind of thing. Oh and everybody raves about 300.

Some Blurays I can deffinately recommend:

Ratatouille / Cars if you like Pixar movies, these two are THE bestlooking HD movies by far
Goodfellas for the best looking Bluray gangster movie (and it's a good movie aswell )
Reign over me, recent movie (drama) with good shadows and depth
Any Pirates of the Caribbean movie
The Prestige
Die Hard 4.0
The Patriot
The Descent (horror)
V for Vendetta
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang

All of the above are very good transfers, just pick the movie you like [thumbup]

Personal favorites: V for Vendetta (especially the scene where she goes out in the rain ... damn just thinking about it gives me the shivers again. And the fireworks of course [thumbup]), Kiss kiss bang bang, because it's such a good and original movie and both Pixar movies, and Goodfellas for being the best classic. The rest are more "popcorn" / show off flicks to me

EDIT: Almost forgot, if you're just a little bit into documentaries, buy Planet Earth.

Its a close call between that and the departed for me. Both great movies though.

True [yes] I gave Goodfellas the edge though, because even though it's older, it really doesn't show.

Both are very good movies, but Goodfellas just has that "original" feel to it

Well yeah there are shitloads of movies on bluray, but not all of them are worth recommending just because the movie is good. I learned that valuable lesson after buying Lord of War on Bluray. Only the transfers that are really good deserve to be bought on that media, else you might as well buy the dvd and save 50-80% of the price.

Btw Hot Fuzz just came to mind, which is a very good transfer! Buy it if you liked the movie.

@salty: Why would anyone hate you because Goodfellas is not your cup of tea? There are shitloads of movies I don't like that other people love to death, even movies that score 8.5+ on imdb Field of Dreams comes to mind (was recommended on FM so I rented it last week), I kept waiting for a good moment to come, but the movie was over before it happened. Probably way too american for me [yes]

Yeah i always read up about transfer quality before buying all my blu-ray films. Pans Labyrinth & 300 were the only exceptions. 3 of my favourite films are available (Robocop, Terminator 1 & 2) but i refuse to buy them until they've had a decent remaster.

Surprised nobody mentioned "Casino Royale" yet. That's one of the sharpest movies on BluRay (and a killer movie to boot)...

I love that film. I've got it on it's way to me, along with The Rock (supposed to be a great transfer too).

My copy of Shoot 'Em Up arrived today. I only watched the first 5 mins but the transfer looks great!

That's available on Blu Ray too? Last time I watched that film let's just say I wasn't in the best state of mind for it, woo hoo that's a paranoid ride.
