It is pretty serious when there is 1 version of Leopard but 6 Versions of Vista. Most Home Users and Gamers would be fine with Home Premium and those who want full package can get Ultimate. Essentially Microsoft has to prepare for a much wider market than Mac. When a company wants to outfit a few hundred computer's with Vista and they go for Basic instead of Premium they save thousands. |

Real is the worst. On the Mac vs PC argument. I don't care. If I want to game on a PC, its going to be a Windows based machine, which will do all my office stuff too, and if I want I can run Beryl in linux for that amazing desktop feel. The mac has Aqua, OS X's interface. And it is sweet. I love Expose, and the dashboard. I hate dealing with how often OS X seems to crash a user profile, and dealing with Fonts on a Mac is no fun. However, if I were to buy a laptop it would be mactel based. I could run XP, Linux, OS X, etc. And with my job that kind of versatility is important. For a home machine I prefer a windows based machine. Haven't even made the jump to vista at this point, I see no reason to. |

Oh please when does the average Joe have to choose which version? They buy a PC or a Mac and the OS is on there big ****ing deal. I doubt they sell many PCs with Enterprise Edition Vista on them at Best Buy so there is no risk yet Apple is trying to create one. The ad is the usual stereotyping crap. Since when did negative advertising bust out of politics and into the mainstream. It's not cool it's pathetic when Apple have to resort to 'swift boating' the PC market. |

And the best part is that the 1 version of leopard means that EVERYBODY basically gets the "vista ultimate" of mac, there's no "i need this feature, and I'd kind of like this feature, but I don't know if it's worth the extra money to upgrade to a more expensive version..."
If I had to pay for my OS (company laptop), I'd be running vista home premium and complaining that I didn't have remote desktop or something else... |

Because office pc's don't need a maxxed out expensive OS so they get basic. I am sure if you are buying in bulk it is much cheaper, considering I bought 5 licenses of Leopard for $200. |

Then on the flip side. You have one $129 choice, that does it all. [rofl] Where as a PC can be built without MS having a single bit of revenue from it, so when they sell their OS they have to make money on it. |
