While I agree this sort of thing shouldnt be allowed to happen they will hardly be living like royalty from this.

£44,000 a year sounds a lot to someone like you or me who is either single or married with a couple kids.

But when you have 14 people in the house (2 adults 12 kids) that averages out to be a £3142 a year for each person, before all the bills, food, petrol food things like that. It sounds alot but when its split between 14 people its no-where near as good as it sounds.

Still shouldnt happen like that though, they shouldnt be allowed that many kids in the first place.

Shouldn't be allowed? Err, what right, in a supposedly free country, does anyone have to limit the number of children a family wish to have? Putting the topic of this thread aside for the moment, the kids don't seem to be malnourished or badly behaved (I personally take the comments from their neighbours to be typical class-snobbery statements).

"West Berkshire County Council gave them the keys after their previous council home burnt down in a blaze sparked by one of the couple's children"

Shoop da woop.

I agree about the kids comment though, personally I think it'd be torture to have so many.

What needs done, in your country as well as ours, is to limit the assistance given to the number of kids you have when you first enter the social welfare program.
I think that would put a stop to alot of "baby factories"

I would have loved to have had 5 or 6 children but limited myself to 2 because that was the number I figured I could provide for. Why should someone, or a couple in this case, who dont work, have the luxury of having more than the rest of us and we foot the bill?

Welfare programs should work in a way that helps people learn to be self supporting instead of encouraging them to stay on the government tit. The man in this case should have had to take the job but only had his benefits cut to the amount of what he earned.

Perhaps she would rethink her idea that she was meant to pop out baby after baby if he wasnt there all the time to help her ride herd.

Does anyone else find it odd that this woman has THREE sets of twins? I dont think the odds of one woman having 3 sets of twins in 5 years are very high unless she has been taking hormones to get pregnant.

Found this quote after running a wee search

"According to a British paper, the chance of having three sets of twins (any zygosity), is about 1 in 500,000."

I'm all for freedom, but I feel that to knowingly bring a child into the world that you a) either know you cant afford to take care of or b) have no intention of taking care of should be criminal (a in their case it seems). How do you think the kids feel about everyone and their dog now knowing what a lot of sponges they are; and is it their fault? Absolutely not! The parents are 100% in the wrong and should not have been allowed to have that many children with no way to support them in the first place.

Where does it say that the blaze was due to bad behaviour though? It says that it was caused by the 3 year old twins playing with a lighter. Such accidents are surprisingly common, although most don't result in the house being torched!

How have you managed to deduce that the parents have no intention of "taking care" of their children from that single, highly biased newspaper article? Are you suggesting that all very large families should be treated in the same manner?

It should be noted that the wife had children from a separate marriage and together they had 3 sets of twins; one child has already left for the army too. The real problem isn't the family - they're actually being very sensible: the government's policies are paying them more for staying at home than going out and working in low-wage positions. I don't believe for one moment that anyone here would take the "moral higher ground" and state that they wouldn't do the same if they were in that position.

Well yes, that was badly worded, its not they shouldnt be allowed to have kids, but the beneifits system be in a position where others are paying to raise their family. As Valahalla said, some people may want alot of kids, but if you cant afford to raise them, why is it fair that someone else pays for them for you?

What a load of f*****g spongers !!!
God, things like this make me sick.
44k a year in benefits is a disgrace. The reason they don't work is they don't need to or aren't given any reason to. Take away their 44k a year and make 'em get a f******g job. [cursing]

This country has bcome an embarassment.

However, remember this is a daily mail article, and as such is just the usual you would expect from them.

My input is just this: when there is no incentive to work, people will not. If it is more profitable to sit around watching tv and ****ing, people will do it.

Paradoxically, these people do not find it profitable to have a job because the taxation is so high, but the taxation is only so high because of the enormous benefits being paid.
These kinds of people are a cancer, just growing and consuming and creating copies of themselves up and down the country.

Northern Queensland: January onwards. Hopefully never coming back, because this place is gone to ****.
