Don't see why the rest of us have to suffer because people can't measure what goes past their fat lips. If I can eat as bad as I do and stay at 130 pounds, just by watching HOW MUCH I eat, then anyone can.

If it doesn't pass your lips it doesn't land on your hips.

People are just lazy, ignorant and dumb and need decisions made for them. That's why we need government, I'm told.

You guys do realize that trans fat has not been banned because it makes you fat, right? It has to do with the health related issues, such as higher instances of coronary disease.

Screw that. Trans fat is the bomb, and it makes food taste good.

So screw fatty mcfatrolls along with his heart attacks and PUT MY TRANS FAT BACK.
Jesus , now i can eat the whole bucket and its about the same as one piece of chicken. [thumbdown]

I mean really. If people wouldnt eat the WHOLE FRIGGIN 20Piece meal by themselves (along with three tasty sides and 6 biscuts!) then we wouldn't have this problem.

Hydrogenated oils pose more of a risk than just getting fat.

There are suggestions that the negative consequences of trans fat consumption go beyond the cardiovascular risk. In general, there is much less scientific consensus that eating trans fat specifically increases the risk of other chronic health problems:

* Cancer: There is no scientific consensus that consumption of trans fats significantly increases cancer risks across the board.[21] The American Cancer Society states that a relationship between trans fats and cancer "has not been determined."[26] However, one recent study has found connections between trans fat and prostate cancer.[27]

* Diabetes: There is a growing concern that the risk of type 2 diabetes increases with trans fat consumption.[21] However, consensus has not been reached.[3] For example, one study found that risk is higher for those in the highest quartile of trans fat consumption.[28] Another study has found no diabetes risk once other factors such as total fat intake and BMI were accounted for.[29]

* Obesity: Research indicates that trans fat may increase weight gain and abdominal fat, despite a similar caloric intake.[30] A 6-year experiment revealed that monkeys fed a trans-fat diet gained 7.2% of their body weight, as compared to 1.8% for monkeys on a mono-unsaturated fat diet.[31] Although obesity is frequently linked to trans fat in the popular media,[32] this is generally in the context of eating too many calories; there is no scientific consensus connecting trans fat and obesity.

* Liver Dysfunction: trans fats are metabolized differently by the liver than other fats and interfere with delta 6 desaturase. Delta 6 desaturase is an enzyme involved in converting essential fatty acids to arachidonic acid and prostaglandins, both of which are important to the functioning of cells.[33]

* Infertility: A study found, "Each 2% increase in the intake of energy from trans unsaturated fats, as opposed to that from carbohydrates, was associated with a 73% greater risk of ovulatory infertility…".[34] link

Some of this stuff is currently speculation, but people thought aspartame was harmless until now (Some people even tried to say it was beneficial). Recent studies have been published that link it directly to cancer.

Somewhat off topic, but I just read this today and it really disgusts me![cursing]

I knew the meat was a bit to red and something was up.

http://biz.yahoo.com/bizj/070627/1483493.html?.v=3

Officials of Safeway Inc., the Pleasanton-based supermarket giant, have been asked by the leaders of two Congressional committees to defend its practice of selling meat treated with carbon monoxide. What the hell are they putting in, or adding to our food now a days?

We need to start eating each other. That would solve so many of the worlds issues.

Wasn't "make love not war" supposed to do the same thing?

In any case I've ate my share.

The problem with that trend is that too many people survived the experience.

Just because you look decent or even good is far from the same as being healthy. You can't see inside yourself and if you continue eating like crap but making sure you always just stay below the amount that would start packing on weight you'll probably run into problems later on in life. You have to eat healthy to stay healthy and well, almost none of that stuff tastes near as good as all the crap that's bad for you. I'm not getting into the public ban being against our freedom or anything because I don't feel like going into that fire pit, I'm just saying don't kid yourself, if you eat like crap, it'll probably catch up to you sooner or later on the insides.

Trans fat? TRANS FAT!? Screw Trans Fat. You know what rocks? Real fat! Butter! Animal Fats! You know, manly fats! none of this girlie hydrogenated vegetable oil. That's what went wrong when some wussy people said lets replace real fat with these healthier vegetable fats. You want taste you want fatty goodness you've gotta do it the real way! People got shy of fat invented some crap then realised they'd made something worse than they had before. Idiots!

people have suggested they are fine with having trans fat because they can eat what they want and stay xxx pounds.

It hasn't got much to do with weight. It's about keeping your veins and arteries clear and avoiding heart disease...

I have bloodwork done on a regular basis due to some of my meds. My cholesterol and everything is fine.

I'm born and bred in the south, so fatty and deep-fried foods are a staple of my diet.

Difference between me and most people: I sit down for steak and taters and have some steak and taters left when I'm done.

IMO No one should ever leave meat on their plate. Some poor animal died for that meal, the least people can do is to bloody eat it. [cursing]
