The chewing is probably screwing with your normal respiration routine, hence the hiccups.

[rofl] I used to get hiccups too when chewing the older ones. I dont know what on earth causes it, but no you're not the only one.

Good luck and stick at it! Its been over a month for me, and I'm feeling so much better for it.

I quit last September. I chewed the gum when I'd have a strong craving for the first couple of days, but then I just switched to regular gum. I never had a problem with hiccups though. Good luck with quitting.

LOL! Well I stopped just after joining the gym, so I have really noticed the difference. My health levels have improved so much in such a short time

While the cravings are hard to get through, I couldnt have done it without my best mate. He absolutely HATES, and I mean HATES people smoking. I never smoked around him anyway, but when cravings came into my head, I just imagined how pissed off he would be. That kept me going really

I used Tabex, these are Bulgarian pills that actually work. Dunno what's in them and why they can't be bought elsewhere (I think you can get them over the Internet though), but they work and that's all I care about. I quit smoking by using them and it was easy as hell - you take them for a month, after the 4th or 5th day you don't even want to smoke, really. Bad thing is that they don't fight one's stupidity: after not smoking and not having the wish to smoke for a year, I tried a couple of cigarettes "to remember what it was like" and voilà - started smoking again. Stupid me

Still have 2 packs of these pills though, gonna use one of them soon[thumbup]

I just used the patches for about 2 months.

I'm actually quite surprised and pleased that its a whole 6 months since I gave up.

I do get the occasional craving, so I've a liking for cherry flavour "airwaves" at the moment.
My wife gave up for about 2 months, but due to some stress because of some pretty bad financial problems we've had she's started smoking again. although that sounds a little bit stupid really, cos we're skint but she can still afford to smoke, .

Anyway, my 16 yr old daughter is seeing some lad who smokes, and stupidly she has started smoking herself now.

Although, I think she smokes less than 5 a day.
But I've told her that she has a choice when she is 17, she can either carry on smoking or give up and I'll help to fund her first car, but its her choice, smoke and catch the bus, or have a car and have her freedom, Should'nt be too hard a choice to make?

I quit about 6 years ago now. Didn't use any patches or any of that crap, i just stopped. It was hard for the first few weeks, especially when you're sitting in the pub with a few mates and they are all offering you a fag and blowing smoke in your direction to wind you up [cursing]

I was only 19 but was smoking 20-30 a day and i was a nervous wreck if i tried to talk to anyone without smoking a fag. That's when i knew i had to stop!

I have gotten severe hiccups from nicotine gums too when I quit smoking. Right now I am using Swedish snuff and it gives me the hiccups sometimes too. Weird.

SheŽll stop, have the occasional secret cigarette here and there,
Get the car and start smoking again,..
